Remshalden offers several clear focal points for a stay: a longer cycling tour, routes of varying lengths, and local history in Grunbach and Buoch. This lets you plan according to how much activity you want or your cultural interests. When planning your trip, it helps to decide in advance whether cycling, shorter hiking trails or museums will be the main focus of your stay.

Compare Cycling Tours and Trails

The Remshalden 1000 cycling tour covers 48 kilometres through Remshalden and includes more than 1,000 metres of elevation gain. Both stages start at BĂĽrgerpark Remshalden. The starting point is therefore the same whichever stage you choose. The distance and elevation figures give you a concrete basis for planning. Check local notices for temporary conditions before setting off.

The 2022 municipal hiking guide lists two trails with clearly specified distances. The RH2 loop, the Panorama Trail above BĂĽrgerpark, is 2.4 kilometres long and starts at BĂĽrgerpark by the Neue Kelter in Grunbach. The RH1 nature trail passes through Rohrbronn and is 4.6 kilometres long. RH2 is therefore shorter than RH1; the distances make it easy to compare the two when planning.

The Geological Trail offers a different focus: it runs from the southern slope of the Rems Valley near Remshalden-Grunbach across the Buocher Höhe. Taken together, the named routes offer different ways to explore Remshalden on foot or by bike, from a shorter trail to a 48-kilometre cycling tour.

Local History in Grunbach and Buoch

Historical village walks pass through Remshalden’s districts of Grunbach and Buoch. Information boards explain the history of notable older buildings. In Grunbach, MUSEUM REMSHALDEN is one of the twelve stops on the historical village walk. The route and its boards connect local history with the two named districts and their older buildings.

Alongside inventions, MUSEUM REMSHALDEN presents the private and public history of aircraft designer and aviation pioneer Ernst Heinkel. He was born and buried in Grunbach. In Buoch, the museum in the Hirsch features the permanent exhibition “Poets and Painters in Buoch.” Among others, it commemorates Eduard Hiller and Karl Fuchs, who lived in Buoch around the turn of the century. The two museums therefore focus on different topics: aviation history and the literary and artistic legacy of Buoch.

Baking Traditions and Wine

Bread and Salzkuchen are regularly baked according to old traditions in the bakehouses in Remshalden’s districts. Another local connection to wine is Weingut W. Häfner in Remshalden-Geradstetten: in October 2023, it was listed among the Remstal wineries bearing the “Weinsüden Winzer” seal. These two topics offer different insights into local food culture: regular baking in the districts and the winery’s inclusion on the list bearing the seal at that time.

A Regional Addition in Rems-Murr District

In the wider Rems-Murr District destination, the 50-kilometre Rems-Murr hiking trail offers another option for planning a longer hike. It can be walked in three stages from Endersbach via Winnenden to Murrhardt. Route navigation can be downloaded to a smartphone. The entire hiking trail is well served by local public transport, so a car is not needed to get there. Check current services in advance, as timetables may change.
