Schwarzenbronn Outdoors

Schwarzenbronn offers two distinct outdoor activities for a stay: the hiking trail to the Hohbachtal valley and seasonal swimming in Schwarzenbronn Lake. The route to the Hohbachtal, described in 2021, attracts hikers, cyclists and walkers. In summer, you can swim in Schwarzenbronn Lake. This offers a choice between getting active on the trail and spending time by the water; swimming is specifically a summer option.

Breaks and Village Life

In April 2021, a seating area was installed on the hiking trail to the Hohbachtal valley, where visitors can rest after physical activity or take a break during their walk. If you would like to include this seating area in your plans, check its current condition in advance. In the Hohbachtal valley, the Schwarzenbronn LandFrauen (women’s association) set up a rest area for hikers and an information board for taking a break from exercise. This makes it possible to factor in a break when choosing activities, rather than planning your stay around only exercise or swimming.

The Oberländer Musikanten offer another way to engage with local life. Their youth training sessions and subsequent practice evenings take place on Tuesdays at the village community centre in Creglingen-Schwarzenbronn. Interested visitors can drop in as a guest, talk to the group and possibly join in. The schedule is another factor to consider: swimming is a summer option, while the club activity is scheduled for Tuesdays.

The Zum Goldenen Ross inn in Schwarzenbronn serves traditional German cuisine. Before visiting, check whether the inn is currently open so you can plan your meal accordingly.

Creglingen: Culture and Landscape

Creglingen offers further opportunities to explore its landscape and culture. The Herrgottsbach flows directly into the upper reservoir of the MĂĽnsterseen lakes. A fishing education trail, meadows, the stream and the forest invite visitors to relax and explore. The trail provides a thematic focus, while the meadows, stream and forest shape the surrounding landscape.

The Creglingen Jewish Museum documents the Jewish history of Creglingen and Archshofen from the beginning of the 17th century to 1939 in its exhibition “Roots and Paths.” This timeframe gives a clearly defined focus to a visit exploring local cultural history.

Horticulture is another topic in Creglingen: Reinhold Schneider grows medicinal and fragrant roses there, cultivates more than 100 wild rose varieties in his fields, and offers seminars and guided tours. If you are interested, check the dates of the tours or seminars before making plans.

The Lindleinturm has limited space and visitor capacity. A visit is suitable only for smaller groups or groups with plenty of time; no more than six people can visit the tower at once. Check the current visiting arrangements before planning your visit.

There are different ways to explore the history of Creglingen: guided tours are offered in German and Russian, including a tour following in Riemenschneider’s footsteps. Along Mühlweg, information boards offer insights into Creglingen’s history over past centuries. The path leads to the Herrgottskirche, about one kilometre outside Creglingen, and to the FingerhutMuseum. If you are planning a guided tour, it is a good idea to check the available dates in advance.
