Bieberehren lies in the Tauber Valley on the Romantic Road. Near the town, the Steinach and Gollach flow into the Tauber. Here, a river landscape, historic buildings and several cycling routes come together. If you would like to combine local history with cycling or walks, Bieberehren offers several specific starting points. The buildings reflect different periods, while the cycling routes also help you plan your trip.
Chapels and Historic Buildings
The Kunigunden Chapel is an important late Romanesque building, probably constructed around 1230. The Marienkapelle is first mentioned in 1401. Its furnishings include Baroque altars, ceiling paintings, pictures, figures and an intricately designed pulpit. These two chapels offer distinct cultural highlights: the late Romanesque architecture of the Kunigunden Chapel and the varied furnishings of the Marienkapelle.
Historic features with their own ties to the past can also be found beyond the chapels. Beside the Gollach stands a wayside shrine dating from 1432. The town hall dates from 1612, has two storeys and features a half-timbered upper floor. On the road towards Buch stands a tower ruin, probably dating from the 15th century. The Holy Cross Chapel stands on Eulenberg and dates from 1850.
Cycling Routes and Orientation
Four cycling routes pass through Bieberehren: the Tauber Valley Cycle Route, the Romantic Road, the Radachter and the Gaubahn Cycle Route. The route and stages of the Gaubahn Cycle Route are specifically described. It follows the former railway line from Bieberehren to Ochsenfurt and connects the Tauber and Main rivers. Its first stage runs from Ochsenfurt via Aub to Bieberehren, where it joins the Tauber Valley Cycle Route.
A shelter for cyclists and walkers stands at the junction of the Liebliches Taubertal cycle route. Check its condition before setting out. Sun loungers have been installed at several points along the cycle route and in the bathing area by the old sports ground. As such facilities may change, check whether they are still there before your visit.
Walks and the Cultural Trail
Local options include walks along the Tauber, in the Gollach Valley and on woodland paths, as well as visits to the former watchtower. This gives you a choice of different landscapes—river, valley and woodland—alongside a historic destination. The Bieberehren BilderBuch Cultural Trail connects Bieberehren, Buch and the Kunigunden Chapel. It provides a distinct cultural point of interest linking these three named places. If you are planning a specific walk, check the trail conditions locally.
When choosing where to stay, you can take these different interests into account: the chapels, town hall and other historic sites offer insights into local architecture and history, while the cycling routes and walking options provide a different focus. The Gaubahn Cycle Route is especially easy to identify thanks to its former railway track and its clearly stated connection between the Tauber and Main rivers.
