Buggingen brings together two different planning questions: How long should the hike be, and which museum requires an appointment? Betberg Church adds a historic site of regional significance to the picture.

Three route lengths on the Vineyard Hiking Trail

The permanent Markgräfler Vineyard Hiking Trail in Buggingen starts at Buggingen primary school and offers route lengths of 6, 11 and 16 km. The three specified lengths increase in increments of 5 km, allowing you to choose the distance. This lets you plan your hike around the route length you want. Check local information before setting out.

Plan museum visits by appointment

The Kali Museum with its visitor mine is located at Alemannenring 4 in Buggingen. Visits are possible by appointment, so arrange your visit in advance. Visits to the Soapbox Museum at Im Mittelfeld 24 must be arranged by telephone. S’Carli-Matthiese can also be visited by appointment: its permanent exhibition displays historic agricultural equipment.

The museums therefore differ both in their themes and in how visits are arranged. Visits to the Soapbox Museum must be arranged by telephone; visits to the Kali Museum and the S’Carli-Matthiese permanent exhibition also require an appointment. If you plan to visit several museums, arrange each visit separately before finalizing the rest of your day.

Betberg and church history

Betberg Church is located in Buggingen-Betberg and, after Sulzburg, is one of the oldest churches in the area. It was probably one of the original churches in the Markgräflerland and served as a place of worship for several surrounding villages. These statements use different reference points: the age ranking refers to the area, while its possible role as an original church refers to the Markgräflerland. This allows the church to be viewed in both its local and regional historical context.

In the wider destination of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald

Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald provides a broader regional frame for your visit. Many places in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district are accessible by train. The free KONUS Guest Card allows you to use local trains and buses throughout the Black Forest free of charge. The areas covered differ: train access to many places in the district, and KONUS local transport throughout the Black Forest.

The leisure activities in the wider destination also vary by theme. At Badeparadies Schwarzwald in Titisee, summer temperatures prevail 365 days a year; there are real palm trees and turquoise-blue water. The Galaxy water slide universe at Badeparadies offers more than 25 attractions and water fun for all ages. In Feldberg, Fundorena includes a three-level trampoline park. Its X Mind Arena has six stations; Fundorena also features its own snack bar, “Chicco’s Lounge.”
