Viviers-du-Lac lies right on the shore of Lac du Bourget. The harbour, beach access, a wetland and a developed greenway offer different ways to shape your stay. Port des quatre chemins is known for its marina, Plage aux Dames for its views across the lake, and Triangle Terre Nue–Les Blaches for a landscape of wet meadows and woodland.

Harbour and beach on Lac du Bourget

Port des quatre chemins is a marina with space for around a hundred boats. At Plage aux Dames, which is part of the Les Mottets leisure complex, the view opens across Lac du Bourget as far as Chindrieux. The harbour and beach therefore represent different sides of the lakeshore: here, the marina shapes the impression; there, the beach and distant views define the place. If you are planning a stay by the water, you can treat these two specific landmarks as distinct destinations rather than as the same kind of lakeside experience.

Wet meadows and protected landscape

Triangle Terre Nue–Les Blaches lies within a Natura 2000 area and is listed in the wetland inventory. The site includes dense woodland, wet meadows and some cultivated land. The intervention area covers more than 40 hectares. The landscape is therefore shaped by more than just the lakeshore: wet meadows, woodland and cultivated areas are also distinct elements of this named area. Visitors interested in nature and landscapes will find a different focus here than at Plage aux Dames or the marina.

Lakeside paths and rules for the water

The beaches of Viviers-du-Lac on the southern shore of Lac du Bourget can be reached via cycle paths or the lakeside route. This distinction is useful when planning: the cycle paths and lakeside route are named as access routes to the beaches, while the Promenade du Lac is a developed greenway running through Aix-les-Bains, Tresserve and Viviers-du-Lac. The promenade is open to the public under the conditions of the regulations in force. As the route may change, it is advisable to check the current route before setting out.

There are also specific conditions for activities on the water. Along the Promenade du Lac, canoes, paddle craft, buoys and similar watercraft may be launched, provided this is done promptly, does not obstruct other users and takes place outside supervised bathing areas. Keep these requirements in mind if you plan to launch your own watercraft.

Local history and rail connections

The former washhouse of Viviers-du-Lac is located on Chemin du Néplé, beyond the railway crossing. This gives local history a specific, named place in the fabric of today’s destination. For arrivals, Viviers-du-Lac station is served by TER trains. Travellers can connect to the TGV in Aix-les-Bains or Chambéry in just a few minutes. This means you can take the rail connection into account when planning your trip, without assuming there is a more direct connection.

Tailor your stay to what matters to you

When looking for a hotel or other accommodation in Viviers-du-Lac, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on during your stay: beach access, the landscape of Triangle Terre Nue–Les Blaches, the Promenade du Lac or the rail connection? These places and connections offer different reference points for planning your trip; they do not have to be joined into a fixed circular route. If you plan to use paths by the water, check the current route; if launching watercraft, follow the conditions listed above. This will help you choose your destination based on the activities that matter to you.
