La Ravoire offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: a 17th-century chapel, a cultural program featuring the performing arts, and the Bois des Chassettes wetland. Local history also extends beyond individual buildings and is reflected in street names. You can therefore choose to focus your trip on cultural history, events, or nature.
Culture, from the stage to local history
The Espace Culturel Jean Blanc opened in February 1995. Its flexible auditorium has a seating capacity of 380. The program includes music, singing, dance, theater, and comedy, with each event offering a different focus. This range provides various ways to experience La Ravoire’s cultural life. In addition, the Connaissance de La Ravoire group organizes conferences and exhibitions as part of the municipality’s cultural program. Local cultural life thus extends beyond the performing arts.
In the hamlet of La Villette stands the Chapelle Camille Costa de Beauregard, a rural religious building dating from the 17th century. It was part of a large agricultural estate with a manor house, gardens, meadows, fields, woods, and a pond. Camille Costa de Beauregard turned the estate into a teaching farm for apprentices from the Bocage de Chambéry. The chapel can therefore be linked to the estate’s former agricultural use and its subsequent educational development.
Street names also preserve links to former hamlets and vineyards. They offer another way to explore local history alongside the chapel, keeping former place and landscape names present in the street network. Earlier paths were widened through use and paved with stones for carts; most of today’s roads were built along this network of paths.
Bois des Chassettes and the wetland
At the foot of the Massif des Bauges, the Marais des Chassettes covers 22 hectares. The Bois des Chassettes site spans the municipalities of La Ravoire and Challes-les-Eaux. Every year, actors, musicians, dancers, and a photographer join naturalists to artistically showcase the biodiversity of this wetland forest. The annual program thus connects the natural features of the Bois with artistic perspectives.
Events and trip planning
The Fête de la Saint-Jean is a tradition that La Ravoire has continued for years; it includes fire shows, activities, and a fireworks display. Kilomètre Zéro is a week-long series of events featuring activities, performances, and exhibitions that showcases La Ravoire and its talents. The Fête de la Rentrée offers a wide range of sports, games, and creative activities. If you’d like to plan your stay around an event, check the current dates.
At the 43rd Randonnée des Diots, held in 2025, a festive meal of braised diots and polenta was served.
