Hills, lakeside scenery and distinctive traces of local history give Tresserve a variety of ways to shape a stay. If you’re looking for a hotel in Tresserve, you can first consider whether the landscape around Lac du Bourget or the historical traces should play a greater part in your stay. Highlights range from a lakeside route with a precisely specified length to architecture and local history.

Hills and lakeside

The hill of Tresserve stretches for five kilometres and overlooks Lac du Bourget to the west. This describes the landscape; the lakeside path, meanwhile, provides a concrete measure of a route by the water. It is four kilometres long in one direction. When planning your day, don’t confuse this distance with a round trip; plan your return separately according to the option you choose. The figures are therefore clearly distinct: the hill sets the landscape context, while the lakeside path specifies a route of a defined length.

For visitors who want to include water sports in their plans, direct access from the woods on the hill of Poète to the Aix-les-Bains water sports centre is also relevant. Access conditions may change, so check the current access arrangements before your visit.

Church and historical traces

Tresserve church is Neo-Gothic and has the floor plan of a Latin cross. In architecture, this form refers to a longitudinal building with a transept crossing the main space. On the exterior, a Roman funerary stele bearing a Latin inscription is set into the wall to the left of the entrance. The church thus brings together two historical layers: its Neo-Gothic design and the Roman funerary monument in its wall.

The communal bread oven adds a later chapter to the local history. It was put back into operation in the early 1980s. The Comité des Fêtes uses it once or twice a year; dates may vary. Confirm locally that it is currently in operation before your visit.

Daniel Rops provides another biographical connection: he chose Tresserve as his second home in 1947. The year places this connection within the town’s history and adds a personal dimension to its architectural heritage. Together with the history of the communal bread oven, it offers a look at different aspects of local heritage: architecture, community use and a personal connection.

The historic Château de Bonport estate also tells the story of a landscaped setting. Between the château and the lake, it included gardens, an orchard and vineyards. These features are part of the estate’s former layout, linking the historic building with the cultivated land between it and the lake.

The Maison du Diable in Bellevue adds a visitor context to this historical perspective. After Lady Whalley renamed the Maison du Diable in Bellevue, the estate became a place for walks for visitors to the Aix-les-Bains thermal baths.
