Quet-en-Beaumont can be explored via trails with different highlights: on the Sentier de la Sézia, a riverside walk meets the rural history of Beaumont; along the Canal du Beaumont, several circular routes bring the canal’s history to life. Other routes offer different challenges—from a 29-kilometre stage to a mountain biking route. Information on time, distance and activity can help you choose outings that suit your plans.

Hiking along the Sézia

The Sentier de la Sézia starts in Quet-en-Beaumont at the church, heads towards Corps and then returns to the village. The family hike follows the Sézia River and takes about two and a half hours. For planning your day, this duration is an estimate; local trail conditions may vary.

The trail also has a clear focus in terms of its content: the Sentier conveys the rural history of Beaumont through the ruins of a mill, a wine barrel, a swing and an old hut. These four distinct features give the walk a cultural and historical focus in addition to its riverside route. This means you can assess the trail not only by its approximate duration, but also by the theme it explores along the way.

Canal history and circular routes

The Canal du Beaumont crosses the hills between Saint-Laurent and Quet-en-Beaumont. Several circular routes along the canal feature original, playful installations that bring its history to life; these installations may change over time. The canal has supplied local farmers since 1876 and is still in use. Here, cultural and historical interpretation goes hand in hand with ongoing use.

The two cultural and historical trails differ in how they can be explored: the Sentier de la Sézia combines rural history with an approximately two-and-a-half-hour family walk along the river; at the Canal du Beaumont, several circular routes present its history in a playful way. The result is a choice between a single hike and several circular routes.

Stages and panoramas

The Corps–La Mure stage of the Route Napoléon à Cheval is 29 kilometres long and rated moderate. The route passes through the hamlet of Quet-en-Beaumont. The distance refers to the entire section between Corps and La Mure, not just the hamlet. It represents a different scale from the approximately two-and-a-half-hour walk along the Sézia: here, the focus is on stage length and difficulty, while there it is on the approximate duration of a family hike.

The Tour du Chauvet offers a different activity: it is a varied mountain biking route, typical of the landscapes of Beaumont. As it approaches Quet-en-Beaumont, it passes through increasingly wooded surroundings. Crossing the hamlets offers panoramic views of the Obiou and Lac du Sautet; visibility depends on the weather and seasonal conditions. Trail conditions and signage may also change, so take this into account when planning.
