Le Gué-De-Velluire offers several ways to discover the town and its surroundings: you can choose an easy circular walking trail, explore cycling routes, take a boat from the landing stage to see the village, or visit viewpoints. Both the mode of transport and the type of route are important when choosing. The Sentier pédestre La Boule d'Or is 4 km long; the Circuit cyclable des Vanniers is 16.9 km and is a circular route. A direct comparison of their lengths is not very useful: one figure refers to an easy walking trail, the other to a cycling route. When planning, it is therefore worth considering the activity and type of route as well as the distance.

Hiking and Views

The Sentier pédestre La Boule d'Or starts in Le Gué-De-Velluire and is an easy 4 km circular trail. Along it, you can discover the Vendée and the Butte des Tertres. This hike is therefore defined by its route type and difficulty as well as by a specific landscape. That provides a different way to choose a trail than distance alone: here, the hike described has a named starting point and views of the river and the butte.

The Falaise des Tertres is the highest point in the Marais poitevin. In good weather, the view from there extends across a large part of the canton and beyond. At Route de Velluire, the Table d'orientation offers panoramic views over the commune of Le Gué-De-Velluire. The two viewpoints offer different perspectives: the Table d'orientation looks out over the commune, while the view from the Falaise extends farther in good weather. The weather qualification applies specifically to the view from the Falaise.

Cycling Routes with Different Route Types

The Circuit cyclable des Vanniers is 16.9 km long and follows a circular route. It starts at Place de la Rivière in Le Gué-De-Velluire and is signposted in one direction. Its distance, starting point, and directional markers give this bike ride a specific profile. When planning your route, you can follow the signposted direction; its circular layout also distinguishes it from a route with a named destination.

Another cycling option is the Circuit de Vouillé-les-Marais à l'Ile d'Elle. It runs from Le Gué-De-Velluire along the Vendée to L'Ile-d'Elle. This route, with a named destination, offers an alternative to the circular route. The difference can help you choose: the Circuit des Vanniers has a stated circular layout and distance, while the Circuit de Vouillé-les-Marais à l'Ile d'Elle is described by its route along the Vendée and its destination. The two routes thus offer different ways to find your way around by bike.

Boat Tours and a Place to Rest

The Le Gué de Velluire landing stage is at Place du 8 Mai. From there, you can explore the village by boat. Picnic tables are available in the same square. This places both the boat tour and a picnic option at a named location; you can take both into account when planning without treating them as a fixed route.

A designated spot serves as a resting place for cyclists and passing tourists. Its stated purpose is to provide a place for people on the go to take a break.

Église Saint Martin

The present-day Église Saint Martin was completed in 1898 and is open daily. The church is illuminated after dark. This cultural landmark therefore combines a specific completion year with two features for visitors: daily opening and visible lighting in the evening.
