Valhuon offers a range of options for a stay: the architecture of Saint-Omer Church, walks with different focuses, and dates for outings and dancing. When planning, it makes a difference whether you are guided by a specific event date, a recurring day of the week or a seasonal evening event. This makes it easy to tailor culture and exercise to your own travel interests.

Saint-Omer Church and its bell tower

The most notable feature of Saint-Omer Church is its tall, square bell tower built of ashlar stone. Moulded cornices divide it into six storeys, and four diagonal buttresses flank the tower. Pinnacles crown the top, and there are two windows on each side in the upper section. A small pentagonal stone stair tower is attached to the main tower. Animal-shaped gargoyles can be seen at the top of the tower. These details combine a clear geometric form with a distinctly articulated tower silhouette.

Walking formats and event date

The Ultra Marche du Ternois is a non-competitive walking event held at a free pace. The 2027 edition is scheduled for Saturday, 27 March 2027, in Valhuon; it is organised by the Sur les Traces de David association. The STD Festival is Valhuon’s renewed after-sport area for the Ultra Marche, offering all participants live concerts and music. Dates and participation requirements may change; check them before travelling.

Another walking format is Le Trèfle du Diable. Since 2025, Les Courants d’Air have organised this untimed walk for trail runners and walkers, with distances ranging from 10 to 45 km. Confirm the current edition before travelling. The Ultra Marche focuses on a free pace and its non-competitive nature; distances of 10 to 45 km are part of the Le Trèfle format. This lets you choose between different focuses without treating the events as the same.

Trails and regular events

Les Courants d’Air is a club for running, walking and Nordic walking. The Sunday outings start at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays at the Salle du Rietz; please check the date against current local information before travelling. The Abbaye de Belval depuis Valhuon route starts at Valhuon’s community hall and initially crosses the plains towards Brias. The Sentier le Moulin Blanc runs through the plains and is notable for its diverse architectural heritage. For the route starting at the community hall, the starting point and initial course are clearly specified; the Sentier le Moulin Blanc focuses on the landscape of the plains and its built heritage.

Folk Ambiance offers introductions to historical and folk dances at the Salle du Rietz. They take place on the first Thursday of each month from September to June, except on public holidays, from 8:15 to 9:30 p.m. These events therefore differ clearly from the Sunday outings: here, plan around a particular Thursday evening and the seasonal summer break. Check the current dates before travelling.
