Fiefs offers cultural history and rural landscapes as two distinct highlights. The Church of Saint-Germain and the history of the V1 launch site tell the story of the buildings and the area, while the Vallon de Berguenesse and its green routes offer a different focus. A named walk with a specific distance, difficulty level and duration is also useful for planning. This way, you can decide whether cultural history, nature or a longer day of hiking will be the main focus of your stay.

Church and local history

The Church of Saint-Germain in Fiefs was rebuilt at a different location in 1956–1957, after the original church was destroyed by Allied bombing in 1944. The nave has a trapezoidal floor plan, and the stained-glass windows are by Gabriel Loire. Rebuilding the church at a different location adds a distinct historical dimension: the story is not only about its destruction, but also about relocating the church. The floor plan and windows add two architectural aspects to this history: the shape of the nave and the design of the glass. A former Gallo-Roman road connected the cemetery to the calvary in Fiefs.

Fiefs is also connected to the history of the V1. The Germans built a V1 launch site here, aimed at England, as well as an ammunition depot; both led to the village being heavily bombed by the Allies on 15 and 30 August 1944. The launch site was restored and inaugurated in early July 2025. A blockhouse was faithfully rebuilt, helping to illustrate the strategic importance of the area during the Second World War. The events of 1944 and the restoration in 2025 therefore belong to clearly distinct periods in the area's history.

Landscape and nature

The Vallon de Berguenesse Ă  Fiefs is a continental ZNIEFF type 1 within the municipality, covering 934.54 hectares. Its landscape features include wooded and open chalk slopes, small wooded ravines and floodplain meadows. There are many pleasant walking trails in the valley.

Green routes wind through the rural landscape of Fiefs, shaped by livestock farming and agriculture. The Méridienne Verte also passes through Fiefs. The arboretum in Fiefs contains 924 plants, mostly local and regional species. Nature lovers will find a range of points of interest here: the valley combines diverse landscapes with walking trails, while the arboretum offers a specifically numbered variety of plants.

Walking and outdoor activities

There are many walks in Fiefs to enjoy on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. The Fond de Quévaussart trail offers a longer option: it is 16 kilometres long and rated moderate. The trail details were updated on 23 December 2024. The stated duration is 4 hours 30 minutes for a day outing; the trail starts at 3 Rue Simon in Fiefs. These options help you choose the kind of activity that will shape your stay: varied walks using different modes of travel, or a moderate hike with a specified distance and duration for the day.
