Castle, church and culture
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Château de Lignan-sur-Orb became a large wine-growing and horticultural estate. The Église Saint Vincent was originally the castle’s chapel; the castle had been owned by the Bishop of Béziers since 977. Its architectural history spans several periods: the chapel was rebuilt in the 12th century in the Romanesque period, while the church has had its present appearance since the 17th century. The church also houses a silver pyx, classified as a protected object on 28 March 1955.
The Médiathèque Albertine Sarrazin is also among the town’s cultural attractions. Exhibitions, workshops, other activities and performances take place there. Programmes may vary, so check which events fall during your travel dates before visiting.
