The GR®653 crosses La Boissière, while the Boucle Cyclo N°2 offers a different experience, with its own distance and scenery. Also on offer are the Arboussas holm oak forest bordering the town, Lac de La Boissière as a place to rest, and activities at the Au Pays des Carrioles leisure park. The different themes give your stay several clear focal points: a long-distance trail, a cycling loop, a nature break and leisure activities.
Hiking and taking a break on the GR®653
The GR®653 connects Montpellier with Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert and is 43 km long. The route passes through the village of La Boissière. At Lac de La Boissière, you can take a break on the GR®653; the lake provides a relaxing setting. For planning purposes, it is helpful to distinguish between the two: the 43 km refers to the entire long-distance trail between the two destinations, while the lakeside break is a specific point along the route. This helps put the village crossing in the context of the longer connection.
Cycling the Boucle Cyclo N°2
At 22.7 km, the Boucle Cyclo N°2 is about half the length of the GR®653; as a cycling loop, it is expressly rated very easy. It runs along the banks of the Coulazou stream between Saint-Paul-et-Valmalle and La Boissière. The section from La Boissière to Argelliers passes through garrigue and vineyards, on roads lined with oak trees and rocks. Comparing the lengths helps you understand the scope of the two routes: here, a cycling loop is set against a long-distance trail with two named endpoints. Check the latest route information before setting off.
Holm oak forest and cultural landmark
The Arboussas forest massif borders La Boissière and consists of holm oaks. The Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague Chapel is a cultural landmark in the village. This gives you a choice of different themes for your stay: the holm oak landscape as a natural attraction, and the chapel as a cultural highlight. Either can be a focus regardless of whether you are planning a route or individual activities.
Leisure park and farm experiences
Au Pays des Carrioles is a leisure park within the municipality of La Boissière, in a very shady natural woodland. Children and adults can enjoy activities with soapbox cars. For those over 16 and adults, there are also rides on eco-friendly mini-motorbikes, drift trikes and mini-quads. If you are travelling with different age groups, choose activities according to the age requirements stated for each one. Availability may change, so check which activities are currently available before your visit.
On request, Les Cochons des Agriolles offers guided tours of the farm. Arrange your visit date before travelling. The pigs are raised using traditional methods, without genetic engineering, antibiotics, growth promoters or artificial insemination; confirm the farm’s practices before visiting. The farm also offers a range of products made and processed on the farm without added colourings, preservatives or other additives; the selection and sales arrangements may change.
