Pont Vieux in Cazilhac dates back to the 14th century and offers a tangible connection to the town’s history. There is more to discover beyond this landmark: at Domaine départemental du Fesquet, a path runs alongside the canal to norias and irrigated gardens. There is also a picnic area with barbecue grills and a fitness trail. Canyoning and golf add further, clearly distinct activities. When planning your trip, it is worth considering each of these themes separately and tailoring your stay to your interests.
The bridge and earlier plans
Another historical perspective comes from plans for four factories to be established in Cazilhac, with the aim of employing up to 250 workers. These represent two distinct historical aspects: Pont Vieux is a structure dating to the 14th century, while the factories concern a planned development and projected workforce. Together, these themes offer insight into different aspects of the town’s history.
At Domaine départemental du Fesquet
Domaine départemental du Fesquet is in the municipality of Cazilhac, on the banks of the Hérault River, opposite the village of Laroque. Its riverside location is as much a part of the setting as the different activities available on site. The path follows the canal and leads to norias and irrigated gardens. If you would rather take a break, there is a designated picnic area with barbecue grills; for exercise, there is a fitness trail.
A walk, a picnic and the fitness trail each offer a different focus. If you are planning a visit to Fesquet, you can decide whether you would prefer to use the path along the canal or the facilities on site. As the facilities may change over time, we recommend checking their condition before your visit.
Canyoning and golf
Canyoning in Cazilhac has a minimum age of ten. The activity lasts three hours and requires a reservation. It includes a zip line, splash abseiling and numerous jumps. You can plan the session as a separate item on your itinerary; book in advance and check the booking conditions again before your trip.
Golf de Cazilhac has a 250 m² practice area and a rustic, compact 18-hole course. The holes are between 80 and 230 metres long. Simple dishes made with local products and specialities are also available on site. This food offering may change independently of the golf facilities. If you would like to eat there, check in advance whether the kitchen will be open during your visit.
Plan a hike and your stay
The La Séranne hike takes you through unspoilt countryside above the Hérault Valley to the summit of Séranne. This brings a nature-focused experience with a clearly named destination alongside the local facilities and activities. The town’s history, the path along the canal, canyoning, golf and the hike appeal to different interests.
When looking for a hotel for your stay in Cazilhac, you can start by deciding which of these interests matters most to you. For canyoning, the duration and reservation are fixed points to plan around; if you are planning to eat at the golf course, check its current offering. This way, you can search for accommodation around the experiences that matter to your trip, without filling every day with a set programme.
