Rogliano brings together protected nature, a coastal trail with a total duration of more than eight hours, and historic buildings from different periods. When planning your stay, it is therefore important to decide whether to prioritise the entire coastal route or individual places of interest, and whether seasonal visiting hours suit your travel dates.

Protected nature at Pointe du Cap Corse

Pointe du Cap Corse lies in the municipality of Rogliano and covers a protected area of 668.69 hectares. It contains eleven natural habitats of Community interest, including four priority habitats. The protected Pointe du Cap Corse includes a variety of habitats; since access conditions can change depending on the weather and management decisions, check them before making specific plans.

Hiking trails with different characteristics

The Sentier des Douaniers is a 19-kilometre PR hiking trail along the coast of Cap Corse, between Macinaggio-Rogliano and Centuri. Allow more than eight hours for the entire route. Along the way, you will find protected natural areas and Genoese towers, as well as a nature reserve, cliffs, dunes, fauna and flora. Check local conditions before setting out on a hike.

The Chemin de Rogliano – Chapelle Sant'Anna – Lavoir de Quercioli offers a different option. This PR hiking trail is classed as easy and starts and ends in Rogliano. The Sentier des Douaniers is a 19-kilometre coastal route with a total duration of more than eight hours; the Chemin de Rogliano is classed as easy and starts and ends in Rogliano.

Check visiting hours and access

From July to September, the Chapelle Sainte-Marie on the Sentier des Douaniers can be visited free of charge between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; allow about an hour for your visit. As seasonal opening hours may change, check them before your trip. The Santa-Maria tower, also known as the Tour de la Chiappella, is in the municipality of Rogliano, on the Sentier des Douaniers. The grounds of the Conservatoire du littoral are not accessible.

Rogliano's church and architectural history

In the centre of Rogliano, the church of Sant'Agnellu stands on a terrace dating from the 16th century. It was extended in the 18th century and given a large classical façade. Two distinct phases of construction come together in one place. The recently renovated forecourt offers panoramic views of the marine of Rogliano, the coast and the Tuscan Archipelago. The church is therefore both a tangible reference point for the village's history and a place from which to take in all three of these views together.

The Franciscan monastery also shapes the village's silhouette: it overlooks Rogliano and has stood there since 1520. The Santa Croce brotherhood dates from the 17th century and is classified. The ruins of San Columbanu Castle, associated with the Da Mare family, are another landmark. These buildings and historical connections differ in their function and age; together, they offer several points of interest for visitors interested in Rogliano's history.

Harbour and stay planning

The marine of Rogliano, Macinaghju, is a fishing and yachting harbour with 605 berths. Macinaghju is described as the largest harbour on Cap Corse. If you include the harbour in your plans, check berth availability and services separately. Take these different conditions into account when planning your stay.
