Rédené can be explored through two distinct themes: paths along the river and through the forest, and evidence of sacred architecture. In the Bois de Rosgrand, you’ll find a network of paths leading to the Ellé, a viewpoint, and the route of the GR34 long-distance hiking trail. Churches, chapels, and springs add stained glass and distinctive architectural details to the picture. When planning your visit, it’s worth distinguishing between the two walking routes by their length and considering the cultural sites as a separate focus.

Paths along the Ellé, Scaff, and Scao

In the Bois de Rosgrand, a network of paths leads to the banks of the Ellé. The woodland is home to a diverse range of wildlife and plant life. The Rocher d’escalade overlooks the Ellé Valley and offers a viewpoint; the GR34 long-distance hiking trail passes through the Rosgrand area. This landscape brings together woodland, riverbanks, views of the valley, and a section of the long-distance trail as different ways to enjoy your stay.

Another option is the Balade entre Scaff et Scao, a 7.7-kilometer walking and mountain biking loop around the town center. From the town center, drive toward Grenouillère as far as the sports hall to reach the starting point. The route follows the Scaff for more than two kilometers through the Rosbigot Valley. It also crosses the Scao via a wooden footbridge and enters the Morbihan département. A beech tree about 300 years old is also along the route. If you’re planning to visit specific points along the way, check the current route before setting out.

The Sentier de la Grenouillère à Kervegant is considerably shorter, at one kilometer. The route lets you experience a small patch of woodland and follows the Pont Saint Pierre stream. This stream is a tributary of the Scave and separates Rédéné from Arzano. Comparing the lengths of the two routes gives you a practical basis for choosing: a shorter walk or a 7.7-kilometer loop that is also specifically described as a mountain biking route.

Churches, chapels, and sacred details

At the Église Saint-Pierre-et-Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, you’ll find several precisely identified artistic and architectural features. The axial window contains the stained-glass window “Pèlerins d’Emmaüs,” made by the Laumônier workshop in 1905. The bell tower was completed in 1901 and is attributed to J.-M. Abgrall. The Fontaine Notre-Dame de Lorette devotional spring is dedicated to Notre-Dame de Lorette and lies 500 meters from the church.

The Chapelle Sainte-Marguerite was probably built at the beginning of the 16th century by the Caric family, lords of the neighboring manor of Porh Cadic. At the end of the choir, the chapel has a tracery window shaped like a lily flower. The stained-glass window of Saint Margaret was made by the H. de Sainte-Marie workshop in 1963. The spring associated with the chapel also has a distinctive feature: its gable is topped with a cross. After suffering heavy damage during the Siege of Lorient, the chapel was rebuilt in 1955, following the liberation.

Another part of the area’s heritage is the inventory of the Chapelle de Rosgrand. It was listed as a historic monument by Minister for Culture and Communication decree No. 37 of October 28, 2014. Rédené thus offers a range of cultural points of interest: stained glass, chapel architecture, springs, and a heritage listing with a specific date.
