In Pouldergat, marked walking trails, a traditionally agricultural bocage landscape and historic heritage take centre stage. When planning a stay, you can first consider whether you would like to devote more time to walking or to the history of the commune. The northern and southern parts of Pouldergat offer two circular routes of different lengths; ancient crosses and manor houses also form part of the area’s cultural character.

Circular Routes and Walking in Pouldergat

The commune offers two signposted circular routes for hikers, walkers and mountain bikers. The Circuit des moulins is about 12 km long and runs through the north of Pouldergat along wooded paths beside several small rivers. In the southern part, the Circuit des deux vallées covers about 16.5 km. This gives you the choice of a shorter loop in the north or a longer one in the south. Check the signposting and local conditions before setting out.

The walking trail network in Pouldergat covers 30 km and is maintained and enhanced by An Diharzherien. The association offers two walking groups: routes of about 6 to 9 km are intended for beginners, and routes of about 9 to 13 km for more experienced walkers. These distances offer an additional point of comparison with the two circular routes. If you would like to join a group, confirm the current schedule in advance.

Bocage Landscapes and Scattered Hamlets

Pouldergat’s bocage landscape has traditionally been shaped by agriculture, especially livestock farming. The commune includes numerous hamlets and remote farms. This scattered settlement pattern is a distinctive part of the landscape and adds another dimension to the walking trails: when planning, you can consider not only the route length but also the commune’s rural character.

Ancient Crosses and Manor Houses

Pouldergat has preserved five of its ancient crosses. The Kerlivit cross bears the date 1583 and was re-erected in 1872. The two dates have different meanings: 1583 is the date inscribed on the cross, while 1872 marks its re-erection. Several manor houses in the commune are also centuries old. Together, these structures give Pouldergat’s cultural heritage a distinctive focus alongside its outdoor activities.

Walks on Set Dates

An Diharzherien holds a public walk every year on 8 May. In early August, the association organises an annual walk focused on the commune’s heritage. These events offer a different option from planning your own route: the May walk takes place on a fixed date, while the other walk is held in early August. If you would like to plan your trip around one of these events, confirm the current year’s details in advance.

River Fishing

River fishing is another possible activity: Pouldergat’s fish-rich waterways are suitable for it. Before heading out to fish, check local access and the applicable fishing rules.
