Plovan’s six-kilometre seafront is lined by an exceptional pebble ridge called “an Ero Vili” (“pebble ridge”). It holds back a body of fresh water and forms a natural protective barrier for the dune and the hinterland.

Coast and trails

Plage de Ru Vein is a six-kilometre fine-sand beach suitable for board sports. By contrast, “an Ero Vili” is notable for holding back fresh water and protecting the dune and hinterland. For your travel plans, this offers a clear choice: a sandy beach suited to board sports, or a pebble ridge with a hydrological function.

The Véloroute No. 45 “La Littorale” is a way to explore Plovan’s cultural and natural heritage. The Circuit des étangs de Languidou, on the other hand, passes through sensitive natural areas protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral. The two routes therefore have different focuses: one offers a way to explore natural and cultural heritage, while the other passes through protected, sensitive landscapes.

In neighbouring Pouldreuzic, Plein Ouest’s land sailing activity takes place in the Palud Gronval – Plovan – Penhors Plage area. It requires no particular level of fitness and is accessible even to young children. This makes it easy to factor the activity and its explicitly stated requirements into your travel plans.

Architectural and everyday history

At Église Saint-Gorgon, two dates refer to different aspects of its architectural history: the bell tower bears the year 1520, and much of the church was rebuilt in 1791. The date on the tower and the extensive rebuilding are distinct points of reference.

Chapelle de Languidou is considered one of the finest examples of the Pont-Croix architectural style. It offers a distinct perspective on Plovan’s architecture, alongside the specific dates associated with Église Saint-Gorgon.

The Musée La classe patrimoine de Plovan recreates a classroom as pupils might have known it in the 1950s and 1960s. Exhibits include wooden desks with pen holders, an old printing setup from the Freinet school, a historic reading chart and old schoolbooks. The possible classroom scene and its individual furnishings offer different ways to explore school life in those decades.

The Site de Saint-Kodélig includes a faceted Gallic stele known as the “motte de beurre” (“butter mound”). The site lies on the boundary between Plovan and Pouldreuzic and on the “sentier de Saint Kodelig” hiking trail. Its boundary location and named trail give the site a distinctive connection to hiking and the municipal boundary.
