Le Pian-Médoc offers several distinct reasons to stay: two golf courses with their own profiles, the Boucle des Pins on foot or by bicycle, Romanesque architectural history and wine. When planning your trip, you can start by choosing the focus that interests you most. Each offering is distinguished by specific features of the landscape and its history.

Golf courses with different profiles

The Vignes and Châteaux courses are located at the Golf du Médoc Resort in Le Pian-Médoc. Vignes was designed by Rod Whitman; many holes are lined with heather, gorse, juniper bushes, moorland and tall maritime pines. Châteaux was designed by Bill Coore in 1987. This course features sandy soils, heather-lined bunkers, and fast, firm fairways. The vegetation around many of the holes shapes Vignes’ profile, while Châteaux is defined by its soil, bunkers and fairways. Comparing the two can help you decide what matters most to you: landscape features or the described characteristics of the terrain and playing surfaces.

The Golf du Médoc Resort is located on Chemin de Courmateau in Le Pian-Médoc. Check access information before setting out.

The Boucle des Pins and the regional park

The Boucle des Pins is 11.8 kilometres long and can be explored on foot or by bicycle. It passes through a wooded, protected area. The forest consists mainly of pines; chestnut trees, oaks, bird cherries and cork oaks also grow there. The route’s length gives you a concrete distance to use in your planning, and you can choose how to travel it according to your plans.

Le Pian-Médoc is part of the Parc Naturel Régional du Médoc. Its classification was officially confirmed by decree on 24 May 2019.

Romanesque architectural history

The Église Saint-Seurin was built in the 12th century in the characteristic Romanesque style. Its bell was cast in 1780, and the nave was added in 1843.

Château Malleret and Médoc wines

Château Malleret covers 350 hectares, is surrounded by an arboretum and sits on a small rise above the Jalle du Pian-Médoc. It is classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel and opens its doors to wine lovers. The estate’s size, arboretum and position above the Jalle give it a distinctive landscape profile; its classification adds a wine-related dimension to a visit. Check the visiting arrangements in advance.

Food and wine

Le Club restaurant at Golf du Pian Médoc serves fresh, authentic cuisine based on high-quality local produce. A selection of wines from the Médoc vineyards is served alongside it. This offers a distinct culinary focus alongside the wine-related attractions at Château Malleret. If you would like to dine there, check in advance whether a visit is possible on your chosen date; availability and opening hours may change.
