Three marked hiking routes in Tved Klitplantage, a local cycling route and historic sites give Tved a distinctive character. Tved Church was built in the 12th century; Bronze Age burial mounds can be seen at Ravnshøje. This lets you choose the focus of your stay: trails and scenery, nature watching or a visit with a historical connection.
Hiking trails and scenery
Tved Klitplantage and the surrounding areas are protected. They are part of a natural area that also includes Hanstholm Wildlife Reserve and the dune plantations to the south. Langsande is the largest parabolic dune in Tved Klitplantage and a distinctive landscape feature within the plantation.
For those travelling on foot, the Savbjergruten has a clearly described route: it runs through the northernmost part of Tved Klitplantage and along the edge of Hanstholm Wildlife Reserve. The route can be extended by about 1 km to a viewing platform in the northern part of the reserve. This extension is a separate option if you want to continue your hike to this destination.
For a cycling trip, the local Reservatruten cycling route is a good option; it runs through Tved Klitplantage. The choice between the two routes therefore depends first on your preferred activity: Savbjergruten is a hiking route, while Reservatruten is a cycling route. The plantation also has three marked hiking routes, so Savbjergruten is not the only designated option for walking.
Nature watching and history
There is a viewing tower in the northern part of Tved Klitplantage. From there, you can look out for red deer in Hanstholm Wildlife Reserve, which is home to 500 red deer. This combines a viewpoint in the plantation with the wildlife reserve, while Savbjergruten offers a way to explore the edge of the reserve on foot.
A different focus awaits at Ravnshøje in the southern part of Tved Klitplantage: two Bronze Age burial mounds can be seen there. For planning purposes, this makes a clear distinction between nature watching in the north and archaeological traces in the south of the plantation. Each place offers a different kind of outing.
Tved Church and practical information
Tved Church is a destination with a long history: it was built in the 12th century. It is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 15:30, except on public holidays and during ceremonies. Check the opening hours before your visit so you can plan your visit to the church accordingly.

Check its condition before your visit. If you want to take the bus from Thisted to Tved Church, bus no. 90 is an option; check the official journey planner to see whether it runs on your travel date.
