At Ejsing Beach, two distinctive features help you plan a specific trip: the water is shallow and consistent from the shore out to 250 metres, and the beach is used for windsurfing and kitesurfing in most wind conditions and directions. Use depends on the weather and wind conditions; water conditions also change with the weather and tides. When choosing your stay, you can therefore distinguish between beach- and wind-related activities and trails through the landscape.

Beach and wind sports by the Limfjord

Ejsing Beach is a bathing beach on the Limfjord. The description of the water as shallow and consistent applies from the shore out to 250 metres. This is separate from the question of wind: although windsurfing and kitesurfing are practised in most wind conditions and directions, they depend on the weather and wind conditions. In addition, the weather and tides change the water conditions. So, for your day at the beach, consider the water and wind separately, and check both in light of the day you plan to visit.

Trails connecting places and landscapes

Den gamle kirkesti connects Ejsing and Vester Egebjerg along a 5.3-kilometre route. On the old church path, you pass Studefolden, where information boards tell you about the historical driving of cattle. The route thus brings together two specific themes: the journey between the two places and an insight into the cultural history of livestock farming. The information boards add a historical dimension to the route without requiring a separate excursion programme.

At Ejsingstierne, by contrast, the focus is on the landscape: the trails pass through flat meadowland, rolling heathland and deep forests. The difference is clear when choosing a route: the old church path is defined by the connection between Ejsing and Vester Egebjerg and the information boards at Studefolden; at Ejsingstierne, meadows, heathland and forest shape the landscape. You can therefore choose between a specific route linking two places with a historical dimension and trails whose appeal lies in their varied landscapes.

Landscape and nature conservation

Ejsing lies in the northernmost part of Holstebro Municipality. The surrounding area includes lakes, marshes and meadows, as well as coastal meadows and a bird protection area; the bathing beach is on the Limfjord. Water and open landscapes are both part of the area’s character. Ejsingstierne reflect this variety with trails through meadows, heathland and forest, while the beach offers a different focus along the fjord.

A specific nature conservation initiative is also part of the local picture: in collaboration with Danmarks Naturfredningsforening, Ejsing Fodboldgolf has converted 25,000 square metres into an insect-friendly area. Here, the connection with nature is evident not only in the landscape but also in the creation of an area intended to benefit insects. This is a distinct aspect alongside the beach, trails and cultural history.

Romanesque church with Late Gothic additions

Ejsing Church is a Romanesque ashlar church with an unusually large number of substantial Late Gothic additions. Ashlar describes construction using dressed stone blocks; Romanesque and Late Gothic refer to different art-historical styles. The combination of these features makes the church particularly interesting to travellers who want to include architectural history in their choice of destination as well as the landscape. Ejsing therefore offers several different points of interest: the Limfjord beach, trails through varied landscapes, the historical driving of cattle and the church’s architecture.
