For a stay in Bělov, the local trails, buildings and weir on the Morava can be considered as different themes. The trail network combines outdoor activity with a distinct landscape of quiet roads, farm tracks and forest paths; the village’s history is reflected, among other things, in the Bělovská zvonice and a stone cross. When choosing your destination, you can therefore consider whether you want your trip to focus more on hiking and cycling routes, historic structures or both. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Bělov, this gives you an idea of the interests the village caters to when planning your trip.

Marked trails and different ways to explore

The Stezky Branou do Chřibů trail network comprises 22 km of marked circular routes and connects Otrokovice with Bělov, Nová Dědina and Žlutava. The trails are intended for hiking, Nordic walking and running; they can also be used for mountain biking. They mainly follow quiet roads, farm tracks and forest paths. The 22 km refers to the entire network of marked circular routes, not to the length of an individual tour. For planning purposes, you should therefore distinguish between the size of the trail network and the specific route you choose.

Buildings and local history

The Bělovská zvonice is an indispensable symbol of the municipality. The brick structure stands on a hill and was probably built in 1775 by the Kvasice estate.

The stone cross stands at the intersection of the Bělov–Kvasice and Bělov–Otrokovice roads, near a bicycle shelter. It was erected in 1847–49 (?) at the instigation of František Daněk from Bělov; the last digit of the year is faded and illegible. The inscription „Bělovu odkaz (dar) pudmistra Františka Daňka“ identifies the cross as a bequest or gift from František Daněk to Bělov. In addition to marking its location, the cross thus records a personal connection to the municipality.

The two structures highlight different aspects of the village: the zvonice, a symbol of the municipality, stands on a hill, while the cross is at a road junction. The dates also differ in their degree of certainty: 1775 is the probable date for the zvonice, while the last digit of the year on the cross is illegible.

The Morava and a cycling route

The weir on the Morava is located within the cadastral area of the municipality of Bělov. It raises the river’s water level by 2.8 metres, creating the potential for a small hydroelectric power station. This adds a technical aspect of the river to the trails and historic buildings.

Another cycling reference is the Kroměříž–Uherské Hradiště cycling route: Loděnice Morava is located on it, and from Spytihněv the route follows the Baťův kanál. The marked trail network and this named cycling route therefore offer their own distinct route connections in the area.
