Local cultural history and trails in Chřiby Nature Park come together in Nová Dědina. The “Obecní zvon” bell and the crosses give the place specific historical connections; marked trails offer a different focus. Tabarky adds an archaeological dimension in the nearby area. This gives you a basis for weighing up your interest in culture, outdoor activity and a glimpse of early medieval traces when making your choice.

Bell and Crosses

The bell now hangs in the bell tower in the cemetery in Nová Dědina. The bronze “Obecní zvon” was cast in 1839 at the workshop of Leopold František Stanke in Olomouc. At 43 centimetres high and 49 centimetres in lower diameter, it is six centimetres wider at the bottom than it is tall.

On the “Sukovitý kříž,” the figure of Christ is made of black cast iron; it is also called “černý kříž.” A new wooden “Dřevěný kříž” was erected in 1862 in the centre of the village, in front of house No. 7, and was later replaced. A cross by the forester’s lodge in Zelnice is marked on old maps dating from 1834. The lime trees planted around the “Dřevěný kříž” are still standing today.

Trails in Chřiby Nature Park

The entire area of Nová Dědina lies within Chřiby Nature Park. The “Stezka Nové Dědiny” is 6.9 kilometres long and marked in yellow. In addition, the marked trails of the “Stezky Branou do Chřibů” project pass through Nová Dědina; they are intended for hiking, running, Nordic walking and mountain biking.

The two trail descriptions have different focuses: the length and marking are given for the individual Stezka, while the project lists several activities. For your planning, you can first consider which type of activity interests you, then consult the trail description that best suits it. Check trail conditions before setting out.

On the Tabarky route, a paved road marked as a cycle route connects near a crossroads at the Nová Dědina tourist shelter.
