Bezměrov lies on the right bank of the Haná River, which flows directly through the village. The Haná provides the immediate connection to the river; the Morava also features along the hiking routes. Bezměrov can be reached by bus and train. Plan your journey around the timetable for your travel dates.

Local history across the ages

The first mention of Bezměrov dates from 1078. A deed of foundation issued by Olomouc Prince Otto I for Hradisko Monastery near Olomouc names the village. Bezměrov is also considered one of the oldest Slavic settlements. An old trade route from the southern lands to the northern lands ran nearby. The village’s history thus combines a dated mention with links to earlier settlement and trade routes.

Another period reaches back to the Neolithic: part of a settlement belonging to the culture of Moravian Painted Ware was identified in the Přední hony field near Bezměrov. Bezměrov’s bell tower was reconstructed in 2017; it houses the St. John bell, cast in 1919. The same building thus brings together a more recent reconstruction and an older bell.

Hiking routes and rivers

The circular hike from Bezměrov to Hradisko starts in the village, is about 6.5 kilometres long, and is recommended for families with children, cyclists and tourists. If you are looking for a route that starts in Bezměrov, you can use its approximate length as a guide when planning.

After crossing the bridge at Bezměrov, the Cyril and Methodius hiking route follows the Morava River. Taking a route over the bridge gives you the opportunity to observe the Morava river area. The Donbas pond is about 200 metres beyond the bridge and is suitable for resting and fishing. Access and fishing rules may vary; check local conditions before your visit.

The routes offer different planning points: the circular hike to Hradisko can be assessed by its approximate length, while the Cyril and Methodius hiking route focuses on the stretch along the Morava. The Haná, meanwhile, defines the village’s immediate riverside setting.

Culture and accommodation planning

The cultural centre in Bezměrov hosts public and private social events. If you would like to plan your stay around a particular date, check whether a suitable event falls during your travel dates.

When looking for a holiday apartment in Bezměrov, you can factor in travel by bus or train and the starting point of the circular hike when choosing where to stay. Also consider whether local history, a potential event date or a route along the Morava will be the focus of your stay. This way, you can plan your accommodation around the activities you actually have in mind, without assuming a fixed itinerary.
