Studnice between the village center and the Oslava Valley
Dolní rybník is one of two ponds in the center of Studnice. Along the northeastern cadastral boundary, the Oslava flows through a picturesque, wooded valley. Studnice lies in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands; at 509 m above sea level, Studnická strážnice is the highest peak. The village center, elevation and river valley show different sides of the area. If you are considering Studnice as a travel destination, these landscape features can help you clarify your interests alongside the cycling routes and local history.
Cycling routes with different distances
Cycling route 5206 runs through Studnice between Oslava and Budišov. Another connection is the 40-kilometer-long cycling route “Podél řeky Oslavy.” It leads from Oslava via Studnice and Kundelov onward to Budišov, then through other villages back to Náměšť nad Oslavou. This offers two different reference points: the connection between Oslava and Budišov via Studnice, and a 40-kilometer route that passes through other villages before returning to Náměšť nad Oslavou.
The “Podél řeky Oslavy” route can be shortened; you can take the train back from Budišov or Kojatín. Check current train services before setting out if you are planning this return trip. This lets you choose the scope of your tour based on the route described and the option to shorten it, rather than relying on the route name alone.
Road connection and navigation
The road connection is also defined by a specific sequence of villages: road III/36056 connects Budišov with Rohy and Oslavička via Kundelov and Studnice. You can take this connection into account when planning your trip, alongside the cycling routes. The villages listed indicate the sequence along the road; the cycling route and road connection are different reference points for understanding Studnice’s location.
Fortress, chapel and mill
The year 1481 is an important historical reference point for the village: Konrád z Miroslavě, Berta z Kokor and their son bought Studnice, along with its farmstead and appurtenances, at that time. Konrád apparently built a fortress there. It soon fell into ruin after it ceased to serve as a manor house. The history of the fortress thus links the purchase of the village with a manor house whose function later came to an end.
The chapel in Studnice also has a specific historical connection: its bell is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Another cultural and historical landmark is Řihákův mlýn, formerly known as Hamžův mlýn. The mill stands on the right bank of the Oslava between Dolní Heřmanice and Studnice and dates from around 1640. The building is a cultural monument. Its former name, approximate date and status as a cultural monument describe different aspects of the mill.
When looking for a holiday apartment for your stay, you can first assess Studnice according to what matters most to you on your trip: would you like to include cycling routes in your plans, are you interested in village history, or is the landscape your main focus? These questions can help you compare the area with your own travel interests.
