Zajíčkov brings together practical routes for planning a trip and local history that can be traced through names and dates. The Křemešník Circle continues from here to Pavlov; the Křemešnický Circuit II cycle route branches off onto a field track at the first house in the village. Kosův kámen and Watermill No. 7 add a rock formation and a topic in technological history. You can focus your plans on walking and cycling routes, or include natural and historical points of interest.

Landscape around the village

Zajíčkov lies in the valley of the Podlesník stream. On the edge of the village, on the side seen when approaching from Pelhřimov, is the rock formation known as Kosův kámen. The valley and the rock formation offer two different ways to view the landscape: the valley describes the location of the village as a whole, while the rock is a single natural feature. If you include landforms in your trip planning, you can distinguish between a geographical setting and a specific named point.

Walking and getting here

The Křemešník Circle leads from Zajíčkov along a field track to woods, across a stream crossing and through meadows, continuing to Pavlov. This sequence makes several landscape features part of the same walk. Surfaces and trail conditions may vary, so check local conditions before setting out. On a marked hiking route, Zajíčkov railway station can be reached from the route near Radňov via the yellow trail marking as a 1 km shortcut. If you plan to use the station for your arrival or departure, check the current timetable.

Cycling

On the Křemešnický Circuit II cycle route, the route branches off onto a field track towards the woods at the first house in Zajíčkov. This provides a specific local landmark for planning your ride. Check trail conditions locally before deciding on your cycling route. The two longer routes have different focuses: the Křemešník Circle is described by its course to Pavlov and several landscape features; on the Křemešnický Circuit II, the turn-off by the first house is the key landmark. When choosing between walking and cycling, you can take into account the activity you prefer and the course of each route.

Technological and political history of the village

An entry dated 10 February 1902 mentions a shingle-making machine, a chaff cutter and a threshing machine at Watermill No. 7. These three specifically named machines bring the technological side of the mill’s history to life. The succession of estates sheds light on a different aspect: Zajíčkov was initially part of the Červená Řečice estate. After it was divided, the village successively belonged to the Nová Cerekev and Nová Buková estates; in 1592, it finally passed to Pelhřimov. This sequence leads from earlier estate affiliations to a specific year and offers a second perspective on local history alongside the mill’s technological history.
