The official Okolo vodních mlýnů cycling route passes through Dubovice. The Pelhřimov Ring II, two chapels and a monument commemorating the town’s incorporation into Pelhřimov are also here. When planning your visit, it is worth considering the route, landscape and visiting requirements separately: Ring II includes an unpaved section on the approach to Dubovice, and Váňův statek welcomes guests only by prior arrangement.
Routes and trail conditions
The Okolo vodních mlýnů cycling route passes through Dubovice and a picturesque landscape above Pelhřimov. The Pelhřimov Ring II is a 47.5 km circular route around Pelhřimov. Its approach to Dubovice includes a 5 km section on an unpaved road before joining a paved road. The 47.5 km refers to the entire circular route, while the five kilometres refer to the unpaved section on the approach. This distinction makes it easy to tell the overall distance apart from the specific trail conditions. As local surface conditions can change, check them locally before setting out.
Landscape along Pelhřimov Ring II
Before reaching Dubovice, Pelhřimov Ring II offers views across the landscape from the Hajlovka valley to the peaks of Stražiště (744 m above sea level) and Svidník (740 m above sea level). The route also passes through a valley at almost 600 m above sea level before reaching the village. If you compare the routes, the difference in scenery is clear: Ring II features the approach, the valley and the peaks, while Okolo vodních mlýnů passes through the landscape above Pelhřimov and through Dubovice.
Chapels and local history
The simple Neo-Baroque Chapel of St Nicholas was built in Dubovice in 1850. It can be seen from a hill on the Pelhřimov Ring II. It was probably commissioned by followers of Mikuláš z Vlásenice. Another chapel in the village is dedicated to the Most Holy Trinity. A monument also commemorates Dubovice’s incorporation into Pelhřimov. The construction date and possible patronage should be distinguished: the chapel was built in 1850, while its attribution to followers of Mikuláš z Vlásenice remains a supposition. Alongside the chapel’s history, the village has other historical points of interest.
Plan your accommodation and visit
Váňův statek offers accommodation and a restaurant in Dubovice. It is not open for regular business: guests are welcomed only by prior arrangement. This is an important condition for your stay. Check the access requirements before travelling, as they may change. Choosing a route and planning an overnight stay are separate steps: a suitable route does not replace making prior arrangements with Váňův statek.
