Jezdovice brings together several distinct themes for a stay: protected moorland and grassland habitats, the Naučná stezka Špičák and stone-built heritage and memorials. Jezdovické rašeliniště represents nature and species conservation; the route combines exercise with information panels, while the bridge and miners’ statue offer different historical perspectives.

Moorland and protected species

Jezdovické rašeliniště is a 2.7067-hectare natural monument, first designated on 3 May 1984. The area includes a fragment of an extensive meadow bog, as well as habitats of transition mires, calcium-poor moss mires and submontane Nardus grasslands. The protected area therefore encompasses different types of moorland and grassland.

The natural monument protects rare and endangered plant and animal populations. The plants include Triglochin palustris, Moneses uniflora and Carex pulicaris. These specific species names give the protected area a botanical dimension; at the same time, the protection explicitly includes animal populations.

Another landscape feature is the one-sided oak avenue leading to the water tower. It runs alongside a field track and forms part of a nature trail. Thus, alongside the moorland and grassland habitats, a specific avenue and its surroundings are among Jezdovice’s named natural and educational features.

The Naučná stezka Špičák

The Naučná stezka Špičák ends in Jezdovice after a 10-kilometre route with 10 information stops. It is suitable for walkers and mountain bikers. The route offers a clearly defined active focus; if you plan to follow it, you can choose between the two explicitly stated ways of using it.

The information panels cover biology, geology, geomorphology and history. This makes the nature trail easy to grasp not only through its length, but also through its subject matter: natural history meets the history of the Earth and human history. For visitors who enjoy exploring more than one subject along the way, this mix offers a specific point of reference.

On the longest option, it is possible to take a train or bus for the return journey from Jezdovice to Třešť. Check the timetables before setting off so you can include the return trip in your plans.

Stone bridge and miners’ statue

The stone bridge in Jezdovice is 14 metres long and 5 metres wide. Three arches and exposed masonry define its described construction. Here, the term exposed masonry refers to the unplastered masonry; together with the arches and dimensions, this makes it possible to identify the bridge as a specific structure without considering it solely through a historical attribution.

It is described as one of the oldest bridges in Moravia and is documented on historical maps dating from 1770 to 1780. Its construction and this historical context offer a different way to approach local history than a memorial to mining.

A four-metre-high wooden miners’ statue stands on the dam of a pond in Jezdovice. It commemorates the history of silver mining. The bridge and statue therefore offer different points of emphasis: the bridge is defined by its dimensions, arches and status as a historic structure, while the statue recalls silver mining.

These themes can help you decide what to focus on during your stay: protected habitats and nature-trail topics, or architecture and mining history. The route details also help you factor its length, ways of using it and possible return journey into your plans.
