Nyklovice has a named hiking route, an early history and two chapels built in different years. The southern part of the municipality also lies within a nature park.
Hiking route through Nyklovice
The Vír–Chlum–Nyklovice–Hlásnice–Svojanov hiking route passes through Nyklovice. In the order listed, the village lies between Chlum and Hlásnice, with Vír and Svojanov at the outer ends of the sequence. Most of the route follows footpaths and farm tracks. This gives you both a specific sequence of places and a named route type to consider when planning your trip. The route description is a useful selection criterion if the type of surface matters for your hike. The sequence of places and the route type complement each other: one locates Nyklovice along the route, while the other describes the predominant surface.
A nature park area in the south of the municipality
The southern part of the municipality, south of road II/375, belongs to the Svratecká hornatina Nature Park; the area covers approximately 217.13 ha. The nature park designation is therefore limited to part of the municipality. Unlike the hiking route, which describes a course through the village and several named places, this area refers to a section of the municipality. This gives you two different perspectives for planning your trip: a route with a predominant type of path, and a nature park area whose location and approximate size are specified.
Early village history
Nyklovice was first mentioned in 1335 under the name Mikulášovice (Mikulovice). Jeruši, daughter of Jimram of Aušperk, gave Nyklovice to the Doubravník Monastery. The year refers to the village’s first mention by name; the donation is associated with the named donor, her family connection and the monastery as recipient. This places the village’s early name and its donation history in two distinct historical contexts.
Two chapels, two construction dates
The chapels also provide specific historical and architectural reference points. The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk (sv. Jana Nepomuckého) was built in 1864 in Nyklovice’s village square and is listed as a cultural monument. The Chapel of the Elevation of the Holy Cross (Povýšení sv. Kříže) was built in Nyklovice in 1934 and is considered a feature of the village’s architectural identity. The two construction dates are 70 years apart. The differences make for a clear comparison: the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is defined by its location in the village square and its listing as a cultural monument, while the Chapel of the Elevation of the Holy Cross is noted for its significance to the village’s architectural identity. The three dates mark different events: 1335, Nyklovice’s first mention; 1864 and 1934, the construction of the two chapels.
Coffee and tea in the village
Tři lipky Nyklovice café serves coffee and tea. If you plan to visit, check beforehand whether the service is currently available. This gives you a specific visitor service to consider when planning your day, alongside the hiking route and village history.
