Meziříčko combines a clearly traceable local history with a strong connection to the landscape: Two streams join below the settlement to form the Lysá stream. Several specific memorials stand by the pond dam in the village center. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Meziříčko, the village offers more than a single reason to visit: cultural history, settlement development, and a local waterscape provide different focal points for your stay.

Memorials by the pond dam

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the village center beside the bridge on the pond dam. The year 1562 is engraved on it. The monument to those who fell in the First World War stands near the statue. It commemorates 17 soldiers of the Austrian army at the time. Both memorials are therefore located at a named place and invite visitors to consider two different themes together: the statue of the saint with its inscribed year and the remembrance of fallen soldiers.

Chapel, bell, and local history

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk adds another precisely dated event to the local history. On February 5, 1994, Prague Bishop František Lobkowicz blessed its foundation stone. The local bell dates from 1730. These dates refer to different objects and events: 1562 is engraved on the statue, 1730 is the year of the bell, and 1994 is the date of the foundation-stone blessing. This makes it possible to associate each year with the relevant detail.

The development of the settlement also has two clearly identified milestones. Meziříčko is mentioned as a settlement as early as the 15th century. In 1785, a new district called Familianti was established from the former Jesuit farm. The first detail concerns the early mention of the village, while the second describes the creation of a district. In this way, local history can be explored not only through individual monuments, but also through changes to the settlement and its layout.

Waterscape and outdoor activities

Meziříčko lies between two streams, which join below the settlement to form the Lysá stream. Two aspects of the waterscape are connected here: the village’s location between the streams and their confluence below the settlement. This provides a distinct connection to the landscape alongside the historical memorials.

RS Meziříčko can be reached from the Meziříčko – rozcestí bus stop via an approximately 1.5 km walking route. For your trip, check current bus connections and the conditions of the walking route in advance. Rafting is offered as part of the outdoor programs at RS Meziříčko. As the activities on offer may change, check before your visit whether rafting will be available at your preferred time. This lets you plan your journey from the named bus stop regardless of whether you include rafting in your stay.
