Bolesín is a destination with two distinct natural highlights: Hraběcí stolek, overlooking a bend in the Svratka and the Vír II Reservoir, and the more challenging “Za výhledy” cycling tour, which passes through Bolešín. A temporary fairy-tale trail was also planned for 2026. For overnight stays, the “U Šikulů” guesthouse is a specific option in the village.

Rock viewpoint and nature reserve

Hraběcí stolek near Bolešín is located on a rocky outcrop at an elevation of 530 m. From there, the view takes in a meander of the Svratka and the Vír II Reservoir. Since 2026, the area has been officially protected as a nature reserve. Its location on the rocky outcrop and the views of the river bend and reservoir give the outing a clear scenic focus.

The nature reserve has a small waterfall and spring areas, and is also home to the rare Austrian spring snail (praménka rakouská). Alongside the panorama, other distinctive natural features take centre stage: the waterfall, springs and rare snail complement the views of the Svratka landscape. Those interested in landscapes and nature will find both a striking viewpoint and a protected area with distinctive features here.

The 2026 fairy-tale trail

The “Pohádková stezka na Hraběcím stolku” fairy-tale trail was planned as a temporary offering for 2026. It started at the bus stop in Bolešín and ended at Hraběcí stolek. The trail was intended for children aged three and over; its self-service stations were available until the end of the school holidays. If you are planning to visit the trail, check in advance whether it will still be available on your chosen date.

Cycling on “Za výhledy”

The more challenging version of the “Za výhledy” cycling tour is 45 km long and suitable for trekking and mountain bikes. It passes through hilly terrain with forests, meadows, villages and trails. The route features four observation towers and viewpoints; it also passes through Rovečné, Bolešín and Koroužné. Check the route conditions and markings before setting out by bike.

Compared with the fairy-tale trail, the cycling tour offers a different focus: the bus stop and Hraběcí stolek are the two fixed points on the trail, while the distance, villages along the way and several viewpoints shape the “Za výhledy” tour. This lets you choose between an outing to a single destination and a longer cycling tour.

Accommodation and remembrance

The “U Šikulů” guesthouse in Bolešín is located in a former school building. Its previous use gives the accommodation a tangible connection to local history. If the guesthouse is an option for your trip, check availability for your dates.

There is also a memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars near Bolešín. For travellers interested in remembrance as well as nature and cycling, it offers a distinct point of interest.
