Proboštov offers several specific reasons to stay: the “Brittánka” recreation trail leads to a viewpoint with a panorama of the Bohemian Central Highlands, the Proboštovský rybník has its own natural and local history, and the forest park offers play, exercise and learning activities. There is also a railway station and the traditional Antonínská pilgrimage fair. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth considering which of these highlights best suits your stay.

Getting here and trails

Proboštov railway station is on the Děčín–Klášterec nad Ohří line; all passenger trains stop there. From here, a green-marked hiking trail runs through Proboštov, via the forest park and along the dam of the Proboštovský rybník. It is maintained and used year-round. For your specific journey, check the timetable for your travel date.

The “Brittánka” recreation trail is suitable for walkers, recreational runners, cyclists and inline skaters. It includes a viewpoint with a panorama of the Bohemian Central Highlands. By comparison, the green-marked hiking trail follows a route from the station through the forest park to the pond dam. The two trail options have different highlights: Brittánka mentions several possible ways of getting around and a viewpoint, while the green-marked trail lists a series of named landmarks.

Proboštovský rybník

In autumn 2021, after many years, the Proboštovský rybník was drained, cleared of silt and revitalised. Its dam is 228 metres long, and the water surface covers approximately five hectares. These measurements refer to different features: 228 metres is the length of the dam, while approximately five hectares is the area of the water surface.

A report from June 2026 describes reeds and large clumps of bright yellow yellow irises by the pond. According to the report, flocks of ducks and a pair of swans with their young could be seen on the water.

Forest park: exercise and learning

The Proboštovský forest park has three play and exercise areas with outdoor fitness equipment, as well as play equipment for the youngest visitors. Individual items of equipment may change. The Naučná a herní stezka in the forest park provides information about fauna and flora, as well as the history and present-day life of the forest park and the Proboštovský rybník. Nature and local history are therefore both among its themes.

The forest park reopened to the public in April 2019. Current access conditions may vary; check them before your visit.

Pilgrimage fair and disc golf

The Antonínská pouť is a traditional pilgrimage fair held at the Pohodlíčko site in Proboštov; dates may vary. The 2022 edition featured rides, a shooting gallery, other attractions and market stalls. If you are planning your trip around the fair, check the specific date; future editions may have a different programme from the 2022 event.

The Proboštov disc golf course has nine holes; course conditions may change. If you are planning to play disc golf, check the latest information before your visit.
