Prosiměřice offers two distinct perspectives for a stay: local history and wine cycling routes. The Znojemská vinařská cyklostezka I runs through the village; Route II leads to Prosiměřice and continues there on Route I. The two southern branches also meet here. The entire route is about 190 kilometres long; this figure refers to the full route and not just the section through Prosiměřice. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can weigh up whether historic buildings and monuments or wine cycling are a better fit for your stay.

The Church and Stone Monuments

The first written record of Kostel sv. Jiljí dates to 19 September 1226. The church has Romanesque foundations and was rebuilt in an early Gothic style in the second half of the 13th century. The building thus brings together Romanesque fabric and a later early Gothic rebuilding phase. A stone pillory bearing the year 1794, carved into the stone, also stands at a central crossroads in Prosiměřice. The church’s history is marked by an early written record and a rebuilding; the pillory, meanwhile, bears a specific year in its inscription. Together, they offer different historical markers and kinds of evidence.

Monuments Along the Roads

At the northern edge of the village, on the road towards Vítonice, a statue of sv. Jana Nepomuckého stands beneath chestnut trees on a stone, cuboid plinth. A marble cross stands on the road to Kyjovice, by the turn-off to the breeding farm. The Leopold Zwiebs family had it erected in 1921 in memory of their son Gottfried Zwieba, who fell in the First World War. Also on the road to Kyjovice is a well-maintained, restored, semicircular chapel dating from the 19th century. The cross’s dedication and year of erection are among its defining details; the chapel is distinguished by its shape, condition and date of construction. A bell tower dating from the 19th century stands in the former village district of Bohunice. These examples show different forms of commemoration and architecture; their locations help distinguish each one.

Winegrowing and Event Dates

The village’s winegrowing history includes the wine cellar lane, with 17 wine cellars that are more than 120 to 130 years old. It adds an architectural dimension to the wine cycling routes: the cellars represent the local wine tradition, while the Znojemská vinařská cyklostezka I and II place Prosiměřice within a regional cycling network. The international gathering of travellers and tourism enthusiasts, CESTY, is held regularly in Prosiměřice on the last weekend of October. Check the specific dates for the relevant year if you want to plan your visit around CESTY. Five gatherings of Mongolians were held under the name Prosiměřická JURTA. CESTY is a recurring event held in October; the five Prosiměřická JURTA gatherings are a historical event reference.
