Jezeřany-Maršovice can be explored through its cycling routes, gently rolling landscape and the history of two villages. The Páteřní cyklostezka Krumlovsko–Jevišovicko runs through Jezeřany-Maršovice; the old wine-growing tradition, the Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius and recurring local events complete the picture. Three questions are particularly helpful when planning your trip: Which route suits your stay, how would you like to get around, and which cultural events would you like to take into account?
Cycling routes and landscape
Two major cycling routes pass through the cadastral area: the Znojemská vinařská stezka and the Páteřní cyklostezka Krumlovsko–Jevišovicko. The Páteřní route passes through Jezeřany-Maršovice and is approximately 83 km long, excluding connecting and link sections. This length refers to that route, not to both routes combined; this distinction helps you interpret the figures correctly when planning stages. Plan connecting and link sections separately, and check the current route before setting off, as route details may change.
The municipality is situated in gently rolling terrain on the southeastern slopes of Krumlovský les and at the northeastern edge of the Znojemsko region. Its position on the edge of Znojemsko locates the municipality within the region, while the slopes of Krumlovský les describe the local terrain. From higher elevations, the view extends southeast to the Pavlovské vrchy and onward to Austria. The location and the view thus offer different points of reference for finding your bearings.
Getting around by bus
IDS-JMK line 513 connects Jezeřany-Maršovice with Němčičky and Modřice. It is a specific connection you can include in your plans when travelling to or from the area by bus. Check the latest departure times and service pattern before travelling; both may change.
Local history and events
The Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius was built in 1936 for both villages. The municipal symbols represent the old wine-growing tradition of both municipalities. This gives you two distinct historical points of reference: a shared building with a specific year of construction and a shared, older wine-growing tradition.
The Cyrilometodějská pouť pilgrimage takes place in July. On Christmas Eve, the Živý betlém event takes place in Jezeřany. Both are recurring local traditions, although their exact dates may vary. The events take place at different times of year: the pilgrimage is in July, while Živý betlém takes place shortly before Christmas. If you are travelling specifically for one of these traditions, check the date of the event.
Places to enjoy leisure time locally
The multipurpose sports field can be used free of charge. The children’s playgrounds are located at three named sites: the playground in Jezeřany was built on the village green in 2011, and the one in Maršovice in Školňačka in 2012. A playground was built in Panšula in 2019 and fitted with additional play equipment in 2024. The details therefore differ by location and by the time of construction or additions. The place names village green, Školňačka and Panšula help you distinguish between the playgrounds when planning your visit.
