Boskovštejn lies on the Jevišovka, which forms the backbone of Jevišovka Nature Park. Three distinct themes stand out for a stay: the river landscape, architectural history and the activities offered by Agro Family Park. This distinction helps with planning your trip, as the landscape, cultural monument and guided activities appeal to different interests. This lets you decide whether nature, local history or a specific programme should shape your stay.

Jevišovka and the Nature Park

Along its middle course, the Jevišovka meanders through a deeply incised valley that is rocky in places. The landscape features expanses of stones, numerous viewpoints, scree vegetation, floodplain meadows and thermophilous forests. A meander describes the river’s winding course, while the incised valley refers to the terrain through which the river flows. The course and the shape of the valley are therefore two distinct but related aspects of the natural landscape. Floodplain meadows, scree vegetation and thermophilous forests add a variety of habitats. The Jevišovka forms the backbone of the nature park; the nearby Nedveka tributary has a similarly natural character.

Steppe grassland on Měchounčný Hill

Měchounčný Hill, southwest of Boskovštejn, offers a different natural perspective. The hill is the best-preserved part of the former communal pastures and is home to populations of endangered plants. The steppe grasslands on the hill are also home to species-rich communities of heat- and drought-loving insects and spiders. The natural features therefore offer different perspectives: the Jevišovka and its valley represent a broad landscape, while the hill combines former pastureland with a diversity of plants, insects and spiders.

Chapel and Castle History

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows (Panny Marie Bolestné) is classified as an immovable cultural monument. It lies about one kilometre from Boskovštejn, in the direction of Prokopov, by Kabelka Pond. The approximate distance and the reference points of Prokopov and Kabelka Pond are helpful for finding your way. Boskovštejn Castle represents a different historical connection: it was later used as a warehouse and granary. The distinction is clear: the chapel’s monument status is foremost, while the castle is notable for its later use.

Tours and Activities at Agro Family Park

Agro Family Park complements nature and culture with its own programme of activities. It offers guided tours of the farm and petting zoo, with explanations. Visitors can feed the animals and learn more about their care. There are also creative workshops and nature activities. The offerings differ in format: guided tours focus on explanations, while feeding animals and taking part in workshops involve more active participation. This lets you choose between a guided introduction, animal care, and creative or nature-related activities. If the park is important to your travel dates, check in advance which activities will be available then.
