A mill open to visitors, the Slešťůvka landscape feature and a carved stone dated 1559 show how many different ways there are to discover Veverská Bítýška. Slešťůvka lies on the southern edge of the town; historical points of interest include the parish church of sv. Jakuba and Smírčí kámen on the Hvozdec–Bítýška road. You can therefore plan your stay around nature, technology or specific cultural landmarks.

Jarošův mlýn: building and machinery

Jarošův mlýn is open to visitors and has been declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. During your visit, you can see the entire mill building, the machines needed to process each product, and the water channel with its sluice gate. The visit therefore covers everything from the structure itself to its technical equipment. A sluice gate is a closable component; the term refers to a specific technical feature of the water channel. Visitors also gain access to parts of the mill that are strictly off-limits to visitors during operation for hygiene and safety reasons. The focus here is on a mill and its processing technology, while the parish church, with its individual historical objects, offers a different perspective.

Slešťůvka: habitats and nature trail

Slešťůvka, a significant landscape feature, lies on the southern edge of Veverská Bítýška. It covers approximately five hectares and includes a variety of habitats. These include a small wetland, grassland and the remains of an old apple orchard, as well as a chapel with a spring. Wet and open areas meet traces of the former apple orchard here, so the area cannot be reduced to a single type of landscape. Protected species listed in the Red List have been found in Slešťůvka. The Slešťůvka nature trail is no more than two kilometres long; its main route is a footpath to the chapel. The area and trail length describe different things: the size of the landscape feature and the extent of the nature trail. This lets you consider the natural setting both as an area and through a clearly defined walking route.

Church and reconciliation stone: historical landmarks

The parish church of sv. Jakuba brings together two 17th-century objects located in different parts of the building: the tower holds four bells, while the interior contains a baptismal font. Both date from the same century but belong to different parts of the church. Smírčí kámen provides an earlier historical reference. The carved reconciliation stone dates from 1559; on the side facing the road, a visible remnant of the vertical arm of the former cross remains. The monument is located approximately 150 metres before the edge of Veverská Bítýška, on the right-hand side of the Hvozdec–Bítýška road. The bells and baptismal font are later than the stone: together, the church objects from the same century contrast with a standalone stone monument retaining a fragment of a cross.
