Trboušany brings together traces of history, local traditions and natural features. When planning your visit, it helps to distinguish between the different highlights: the school building and memorial plaque tell stories from different periods, Carnival and Advent are tied to specific occasions, while the V olších area is defined by its woodland community.

School history and local heritage

The former Czech school building dates from 1882. Set into its wall is a stone plaque from 1629 commemorating Matyáš Turčič Sedmihradský. The dates therefore refer to different things: 1629 belongs to the memorial plaque, and 1882 to the building. This distinction makes the history particularly tangible: an older memorial plaque is incorporated into a later schoolhouse.

Local sights also include the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. There is a bell tower near the school; a new bell tower was added to the single-classroom school built in 1882. Together, the statue, school building and bell tower offer different points of connection with the local history.

Carnival traditions, music and Advent

The Šparglík association revived the tradition of a Carnival procession in Trboušany. The Mužáci z Trboušan have also performed at events in Trboušany, including Rozmarýnové hody, wine tastings and the brass band festival. If you would like to plan your trip around the Carnival procession or a performance, check the relevant dates in advance.

Every Advent Sunday, the Vánoční maringotka on the village square in Trboušany serves food and drinks, including mulled wine; Christmas songs are also played. This is a seasonal offering, and specific dates, food and drinks may vary. If Advent is a deciding factor for your trip, check the arrangements for your preferred dates.

Another aspect of local wine culture is the Trboušanští vinaři, who produce their own association wine, including white and red varieties as well as the traditional Frankovka grape variety. If you plan to attend a wine tasting, check its availability separately.

Nature and woodland community

Štouralov is a nature and recreation area in Trboušany used by people of all generations. Facilities and activities may change; if a particular offering is important to your stay, check in advance.

The V olších area is home to a unique community of upland floodplain woodland, a type known as softwood floodplain forest. The dominant tree species include white willow, black alder, white poplar and black poplar, along with other trees found in the natural composition. The woodland community provides a suitable habitat, particularly for rare and specially protected bird species. This gives V olších a different natural focus from Štouralov: its woodland type, tree population and bird habitat define the area.

When choosing your travel dates, it helps to distinguish between year-round themes and seasonal occasions. School history and nature offer cultural and landscape highlights, while Carnival and Advent are tied to specific periods. If you would like to make an event the focus of your trip, check the dates before travelling.
