Skalička can be explored from several perspectives: through a historic mill, traces of local history and the resistance movement, a sports area, and marked trails. The village lies in the valley of the Lubě stream, in the hills below Paní hora and north of Kuřim. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for a stay in Skalička, you can consider whether local history, outdoor activities or sport should be the focus of your trip.

Mill and landscape along the Lubě

The oldest structure in Skalička is the Žandovský Mill. It stands in the centre of the village, beside the Lubě stream. This connects a distinctive part of the village’s history with Skalička’s location in the Lubě Valley, while keeping the wider landscape in view: the village lies in the hills below Paní hora. For many years, the Žandovský Mill has hosted cultural and social gatherings. If you are considering attending one of these gatherings as a reason for your trip, check the date in advance.

Memorial sites and local history

Several historical points of interest differ in period and subject. The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas dates from 1923. The partisan memorial near Skalička is dedicated to the members of General Luža’s 3rd Assault Company and was unveiled in 1946. In 1944–1945, Skalička was an important centre of anti-fascist resistance in the Tišnov region. The memorial and the chapel thus represent different chapters of the village’s more recent history.

The village’s older history also has a reference point preserved in a place name: the site of the former fortress is still known as Hradisko. The fortress existed in the 16th century; a reference from 1573 already described it as being in ruins. Hradisko therefore refers to a historic site, not to a fortress that survives today. This distinction is important for understanding Skalička’s past: the chapel has a specific year of construction, the memorial has a year of unveiling, while Hradisko recalls an earlier structure.

Sports area and trails

The sports area by the artificial body of water includes a paddling pool measuring 23 × 3.5 m, with a volume of approximately 15 m³ and a water temperature of 23–25 °C. There is also a court for tennis or nohejbal. So, alongside its cultural and historical attractions, Skalička offers specific sports facilities as another option for a focus of your stay.

For a route with an approximate length, the Cesty medu educational trail offers a useful reference: it is about 3 kilometres long. Its seventh information board is on the outskirts of Skalička u Tišnova, beside a cycle path; a glass observation beehive can be viewed there. A green-marked hiking trail runs through Skalička to the Nad Lipůvkou signpost. There it connects with a red-marked trail towards Blansko and Kuřim. The information answers different planning questions: for Cesty medu, the approximate length is the main point; for the green-marked trail, it is the route and its connection to the red route. This lets you distinguish between an educational trail and a marked route connection without assuming that the same kind of distance information is available for both.
