Odrovice is home to the Church of Panny Marie Pomocnice křesťanů, several wayside chapels and a designated cycle route, offering something for visitors with a range of interests. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first consider whether cultural history, cycling or fishing at Potůček will shape your stay. The cultural monuments span a period from a late Gothic chapel dating from 1521 to the church built in 1900.

Church and Heritage Protection

The Church of Panny Marie Pomocnice křesťanů is considered an architectural landmark of Odrovice and is listed as a monument of local significance. The Neo-Romanesque building dates from 1900. Its architectural style and date provide a specific point of reference if you are interested in the architecture of the town.

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands by the church. This Baroque sculpture, created in 1772 by Moravian sculptor Ondřej Schweigl, has a distinctive architectural pedestal surrounded by a stone balustrade. The statue is also registered as an immovable cultural monument. The church and statue offer contrasting points of interest: one is a building from the early 20th century, the other a Baroque sculpture with a named artist and year of creation.

Two Wayside Chapels, Two Eras

The wayside chapel on the southern edge of Odrovice dates from the second half of the 18th century and is classified as Late Baroque. It has a triangular floor plan; its architecture is defined by three narrow niches and a three-sided pyramidal roof covered with beaver-tail tiles. The roof is topped by an equal-armed cross with forged plant decoration. These features also make the chapel interesting to visitors who pay attention to architectural forms and details during a cultural stop.

The late Gothic wayside chapel of Boží muka, dating from 1521, is considerably older. Its sculptural decoration depicts Saint Andrew, the Mount of Olives and the Crucifixion. One relief panel has survived, and the only surviving sculpture depicts Saint Andrew. The corbel beneath it is architectural rather than figurative in design. Considered a particularly valuable cultural monument, the chapel is recognised both for its artistic execution and for its importance to the historical memory of the landscape.

Cycle Route and Getting Around

Cycle route No. 5171, the Brněnská vinařská stezka, passes through Odrovice. The signed cycle route is designated as the Uherčice–Těšany section. Its specific number and section name provide clear guidance when planning a cycling trip. Road II/395 also runs through Odrovice.

The situation is different for walking plans: no signed hiking trail passes through Odrovice or its cadastral area. If you mainly want to include hiking in your stay, check local route information before travelling. This will help you match your accommodation search to the activities that are actually available, without confusing the cycle route with a hiking trail.

Nature Park and Fishing

Parts of Odrovice’s cadastral area lie within Niva Jihlavy Nature Park. The park includes an approximately 8 km-long, flat valley floodplain of the Jihlava, with the naturally meandering river shaping the landscape. Protection of this landscape goes hand in hand with compatible tourism and recreation.

In the Potůček fishing area, fishing is permitted at publicly accessible spots in the section near Odrovice. Local regulations may change, so check them before fishing. The area therefore offers a range of options when choosing your stay: cultural monuments, a designated cycle route, natural surroundings and a locally restricted fishing opportunity.
