A lookout tower with sweeping views, protected floodplain landscapes and a wine cellar festival in early July give Přítluky its distinctive character. When choosing where to stay, it is worth first deciding whether you want to focus on panoramic views, routes, nature and bird protection, or culture and wine. One distinction is important: visitors are not allowed to enter the Křivé jezero National Nature Reserve; the Maják lookout tower is a separate destination with a different role for visitors.

Floodplain Landscape and Bird Protection

The Křivé jezero National Nature Reserve comprises floodplain meadows, softwood floodplain forests of willows and poplars, and hardwood floodplain forests. It is an important breeding area for birds of prey. White-tailed eagles breed there irregularly, while red kites do so more regularly. Přítluky lies in one of the reserve’s most valuable remaining floodplain areas and at the foot of Přítlucká hora.

Visitors are not allowed to enter the reserve: no marked route leads into it, and its tranquillity must be preserved to protect rare breeding birds. If you are interested in the floodplain landscape, bear this clear boundary in mind when planning your visit.

Views from Maják and Activities on the Water

The Maják lookout tower stands on Přítlucká hora. Following repairs, it has been open to the public again since 1 September 2025. From the top, views extend across Pálava, the Nové Mlýny reservoirs, the Lednice-Valtice area and the distant Alps. Check local notices before your visit. A yellow-marked hiking trail connects Přítluky directly to the tower, making it a specific hiking destination.

The lower Nové Mlýny reservoir offers a different focus. In the cadastral area of Nové Mlýny, part of the municipality of Přítluky, it is used for sport fishing; the reservoir also provides opportunities for tourism and recreation. If you are planning a visit or a fishing trip, check the current access and fishing regulations, as these conditions may change.

Hiking and Cycling Routes through Přítluky

Two routes pass through Přítluky and connect the town with other destinations mentioned here. The marked Velkopavlovická Wine Trail runs from Šakvice through Zaječí, Přítluky and Rakvice, then via Podivín to Velké Bílovice. On its section through the area, the recommended Petra Bezruče cycling route passes through Lednice, Bulhary, Přítluky and Zaječí.

The route types provide a simple guide to choosing: the Velkopavlovická is marked as a wine trail, while Petra Bezruče is recommended as a cycling route. Both pass through Přítluky, but the listed sequences of stops differ. This makes it easy to choose a route based on whether you want to travel on foot or by bike.

Church, Statues and Wine Cellar Festival

The Church of St. Margaret in Přítluky dates from 1784 and has a Gothic core. Four protected early Baroque statues stand right beside it: those of St. John of Nepomuk, St. Vendelin, the Holy Trinity and St. Florian. The church and statues give the town a tangible cultural and historical connection; the church’s date and Gothic core are part of its history.

Otevřené sklepy Přítluky, held in early July, is an annual event for wine enthusiasts. Free wine tastings are offered in the wine cellars during the event. The format may change from one edition to the next, and the exact dates and programme may also vary. If you want to plan your stay around the festival, check the dates and programme for the relevant edition.

Another historical connection is Nové Mlýny: the place continues to be visited by descendants of the Hutterites from around the world, particularly from England and America.
