Řemíčov combines the history of silver mining with hiking and cycling routes that pass through the village. It also includes the district of Buková and the South Bohemian landscape of fields, pastures, tree groves and larger areas of woodland. When planning your trip, you can consider the historical traces and outdoor activities as two distinct focal points.

Silver Mining and Local History

The first written mention of Řemíčov dates from 1456. Silver ore mining in the surrounding area began under František Küenburg in the mid-18th century.

A marble plaque on house No. 1 commemorates the silver works established there in 1751. Between 1757 and 1762, the Küenburgs extracted a total of 2,713 kg of pure silver from the mines in Řemíčov.

House No. 1 is also connected with mining: it originally served as the headquarters of the senior mining official, accommodation for miners and for other operational purposes. The Leopoldova štola drainage adit was opened in Řemíčov near this house.

Another adit, Sv. Trojice štola, was established south of Řemíčov. The mining settlement of Starý Cech later developed at this site. The two adits therefore represent different points in the history of mining: one is near house No. 1, while the other is at the place where a settlement later arose.

Buková and the Landscape

The district of Buková in Řemíčov has a chapel and a memorial oak. Together, they broaden the picture beyond mining history to include a local building and a natural monument. Fields, pastures, tree groves and larger areas of woodland also shape the South Bohemian landscape around Řemíčov. Its appearance changes with the seasons.

Hiking and Cycling

The Stříbrná osmička educational trail passes through Řemíčov. It is about 50 km long and is also suitable for cyclists. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

A green-marked hiking trail passes through Řemíčov and continues via Mladá Vožice, Pavlov, Staniměřice and Smilovy Hory. Check the current route and markings before setting out on a hike.

Cycle Route No. 1177 also passes through Řemíčov. It continues via Louňovice pod Blaníkem, Předbořice, Kamberk, Skrýšov, Šebířov, Mladá Vožice, Stará Vožice, Hlasivo, Ratibořice, Jeníčkova Lhota, Čekanice and Tábor. The sequence of villages provides a specific guide for planning your route. Check the current signs and route conditions before cycling.

When choosing your accommodation, you can first consider what you would like to focus on during your stay. The dates, adits and mining history provide historical context; the hiking and cycling routes offer other planning options through the places listed. This makes it possible to connect your search for a holiday apartment with the activities you actually want to enjoy in Řemíčov.
