For a stay in Pojbuky-Blatnice, the pond landscape of Blatnice and its hiking trails are a clear focus. Historic mill sites add local history to the nature theme. When planning, you can distinguish between routes, water activities and a look at former mills.
Hiking Trails with Different Focuses
The Bolzanova cesta is 22 kilometres long and runs from Mladá Vožice through Blatnice and Těchobuz to Pacov. It therefore passes through several places and offers a different setting from a local nature trail.
By contrast, the “Mozaika krajiny” educational trail starts in Těchobuz and follows a blue-marked hiking route to the Blatnice pond complex. It is 2.5 kilometres long and takes about an hour. Six information boards cover ecosystems, fauna and flora; the condition of individual boards may change. The approximate duration refers to this educational trail.
The differences are not just a matter of length: “Mozaika krajiny” connects the route with nature topics presented on the information boards, while the Bolzanova cesta is a longer hiking route that passes through several places. A recommended hiking route also runs through a recreational area with numerous forest ponds to Těchobuz.
Ponds, Trails and Birdlife
Around Blatnice, the ponds are connected by water channels, some of which also run underground. The pond landscape can be explored on foot or by bicycle along paved and forest paths. The channels and different path surfaces shape two aspects of the landscape experience: the links between the bodies of water and the paths through their surroundings.
The pond landscape near Blatnice is considered a habitat for waterbirds, including the black stork, grey heron, kingfisher and several duck species. Nature enthusiasts will find a specific connection to wildlife here, alongside the hiking and cycling trails.
The surveyed area of Blatnice borders the Kozák pond to the south. A municipal study from 2022 classifies the pond as part of the LBK3 ecological corridor.
Swimming and Facilities at Kozák Pond
Swimming is possible in Kozák pond beside the Blatnice campsite; local conditions may apply. Check the current conditions before swimming.
The campsite has a jetty and access to the pond. Canoes, a kayak and rowing boats are available there for free use. If you want water activities to be a central part of your stay, take this specific connection to the campsite into account when choosing your accommodation.
Mills as Historic Landmarks
Kozákův mlýn stands in the centre of Blatnice beside the Blatnice watercourse and has been documented in church registers since 1639. An older historical reference leads to Kačer pond: at the beginning of the 17th century, Šimon Kačer’s mill stood there and was entered in the land register of the Mladá Vožice estate in 1620.
The two mill references can be distinguished by their locations and dates: Kozákův mlýn is associated with the centre of Blatnice and the watercourse, while Šimon Kačer’s mill is associated with Kačer pond and the earlier land-register entry. Local history thus offers a distinct focus for a stay, alongside the nature trails.
