Radčice brings together its village green, examples of folk architecture and named routes. For planning a trip, two perspectives can therefore be combined: the building history of the village centre and the specific features of individual walking routes.
Village Green and Building History
A war memorial stands on the village green in Radčice, with a relief depicting a farewell scene. The memorial is attributed to sculptor František Lála. The enclosed rural farmstead, No. 20, is in the village centre and forms part of the western side of the village green. It is small, built of masonry and belongs to folk architecture; it dates from around the mid-19th century. The folk architecture ensemble in Radčice includes buildings dating from the first third of the 19th century through to the 1930s. The farmstead thus represents a specific period of construction, while the ensemble spans a broader period. Two aspects of the village’s history come together on the village green: the memorial’s relief motif and the farmstead’s rural architectural style.
Routes and Viewpoint
The “Okolo Vodňan” tourist route runs from Křtětice to Radčice and includes a viewpoint on Radčický vrch. The hill is one of the notable viewpoints in the Vodňany area. The Vodňany–Křtětice educational trail has seven stops and a rest pavilion. The two routes differ in their features: for “Okolo Vodňan,” the route to Radčice and the viewpoint are key, while the educational trail is defined by its stops and rest pavilion.
One route leads to Loucký mlýn, where it joins cycle route 1075; it is possible to return to Vodňany. This route connection can therefore be described in terms of its junction and possible return route, while the viewpoint and seven stops offer other points of reference for planning.
Stone Markers and a Reference Point on the Blanice
Near Radčice stands the stone Formanský sloup, also called Brzdný kámen; it is a technical monument. A stone wayside shrine stands by the road between Radčice and Vodňany, on the southern side of the village. It probably dates from the 18th century and is a valuable landscape feature. The two stone markers have different points of emphasis: the Formanský sloup is significant as a technical monument, while the wayside shrine is notable for its probable date and its importance to the landscape.
In the municipality of Radčice, next to Loucký mlýn on the Blanice, is Hospoda u Korittů, which has outdoor seating. The mill site is also the reference point for the connection to cycle route 1075 there. The inn’s location and a specific route connection thus meet at the same point of reference.
If you are looking for a holiday rental in Radčice, you can first consider whether the building history of the village centre or the named route features better suit your travel plans.
