Fields, meadows, forests and ponds shape Uzeničky. The renovated chapel dated 1890 and the cycling connections add to the picture of the village. For cultural and historical discoveries and a hike, you can also visit the Church of the Holy Trinity, Křikava and the circular route to the menhirs in Černívsko. This gives you a choice of different focuses for planning your trip: landscape, cycling and architectural history.
Getting Your Bearings and Getting There
Uzeničky is on the road from Blatná to Březnice and is about 4 km from Myštice.
Public transport connections are available only by bus to Blatná, Strakonice, Březnice, Příbram and Prague. If you plan to travel by bus, check the current timetable before your trip. This will help you assess the connection for your planned visit without relying solely on a general description of the village.
There are also two different directions to note for cyclists: Signposted cycle route 1063 passes through Bělčice and reaches Uzeničky. A branch of route 1062 at Uzeničky leads towards Myštice. If you plan to use route 1063, check the signs and route conditions locally, as they may change.
The Chapel and Fortress in Uzeničky
The renovated chapel in Uzeničky is dated to 1890. The former fortress is also part of the village’s history: it was a three-storey building from the 14th century and was later converted into a granary. The fortress is on private property and is not freely accessible; please respect the property boundary.
The two buildings belong to different periods: the chapel is notable for its date of 1890, while the fortress’s history stretches from its origins as a three-storey building in the 14th century to its later use as a granary. The access restriction applies to the fortress regardless of how interesting you find its former use.
Church and Circular Route in Černívsko
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Černívsko stands on the steep right bank of the local pond. An active cemetery, surrounded by a stone wall, lies beside it. The church probably dates back to the 14th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style in the first third of the 18th century. Its probable early origins and later remodelling mark two distinct periods in its architectural history.
The small 14th-century castle of Křikava stands on a small rocky promontory above the Černívsko pond. It is protected on its eastern side by a moat. The circular route to Křikava and the menhirs starts at the Church of the Holy Trinity, crosses the pond dam and follows a green-marked hiking trail uphill for about 150 metres to the ruins. The route links the pond with the historic destination.
The circular route is 4 km long, has an elevation gain of 42 metres and takes a stated 1 hour and 8 minutes. The distance, elevation gain and time estimate answer different planning questions. The route is rated as not very difficult and is suitable for families with children, but not for pushchairs. Check the trail conditions and markings locally before setting out.
