Two different route options are at the heart of a stay in Tálín: marked cycling route No. 1146 toward Kukle and a yellow-marked hiking trail through Kukle to the junction at Němec Pond. There are also archaeological finds and historical traces in Kukle, as well as recurring events in Tálín. This lets you choose a specific reason for your trip: a cycling tour, a hike, a look at local history, or a visit timed to an event.

Cycling toward Kukle

Marked cycling route No. 1146 leads from Tálín toward Kukle. Beyond Kukle, it continues northwest below the Písecké hory to Nový Dvůr. When planning, you can decide whether to follow the route toward Kukle or continue as far as Nový Dvůr. Check local trail conditions before your ride.

Hiking on the yellow-marked trail

The yellow-marked hiking trail begins at Putim railway station and connects Hůrky with the Písecké hory. Through Kukle, it runs from Tálín to the junction at Němec Pond. The difference between the two routes is clear: for the hike, the yellow markings and the junction at the pond provide guidance, while the cycling route is described as continuing toward Nový Dvůr. Check the signs locally before setting out.

Archaeological traces and local history

A fragment of a gold-sheet artifact, placed in a grave as a burial offering, was found at the archaeological site in Kukle. A burial offering is an object placed in a grave. A settlement dating from the same period was also identified on the opposite bank of the Tálínský potok. Thus, a grave find and evidence of a settlement from the same period lie opposite one another.

In 1872, miller Alois Novotný is documented at the mill in Kukle. One of the two brickworks operated from around 1920 to 1939; the second ceased operations in 1939. Mill work in the 19th century and brick production in the 20th century thus represent different chapters in Kukle’s local history.

Events throughout the year

The Tálínský triatlon takes place in Tálín every July. The Václavská pouť is traditionally held in the municipality of Tálín at the end of September. The municipality’s sports program is aimed at people of all ages—from small children to seniors—as well as athletes with physical disabilities. If you want to plan your trip around a particular event, check the current event dates. When looking for an apartment, it helps to first choose travel dates that fit the occasion. This gives you two clearly separated events to choose from: the triathlon in July and the Václavská pouť at the end of September.
