Beekeeping history, rural architecture and a themed cycling route offer different ways to explore Pistin and its landscape. The Včelařská expozice brings together historic tools; at farmsteads, the church and the wayside shrine, dates, architectural forms and locations provide specific details. Those interested in architectural history will find individual examples described in detail, while the “Kolem Pištína na Blata” route turns attention to the Zbudovská Blata. This makes it possible to shape a trip around either local history or cycling.

Beekeeping and Local Events

The Včelařská expozice is located in the attic of the Spolkový dům community hall in Pištín. It displays historic beekeeping tools and equipment, including items from 1900, straw skeps and historic honey extractors. The dated items provide a specific reference point in time; the skeps and extractors offer illustrative examples of different types of equipment. The exhibition is open to the public during cultural and community events in Pištín. To visit at another time, you can arrange an appointment with the municipal office.

A culinary connection is provided by the traditional gastronomic event “Pečeme, vaříme, smažíme,” which took place in Pištín in 2024 and 2025.

Cycling Loop to the Zbudovská Blata

The “Kolem Pištína na Blata” route is an easy cycling loop of approximately 24 km that starts and ends in Pištín. It is intended primarily for families with children and seniors. The shared start and finish point makes the loop format clear, while the approximate distance provides a concrete basis for choosing a ride. The route focuses on the Zbudovská Blata, a historic landscape featuring folk architecture, rural Baroque, wetlands and ponds. Its themes thus range from rural architectural styles to natural areas. Those interested in the Zbudovská Blata will encounter both cultural-historical and landscape features along this route.

Farmsteads and Postal History

The enclosed Farmstead No. 1 dates from around 1700. It is located at the western end of the north side of Pištín village square, below the church on the road to Pašice. Its date answers a different question from its precise location: one places the farmstead in time, while the other describes its position in the village.

Several architectural elements are notable at Farmstead No. 5. The residential building has an openwork, curved wing gable. The farmstead also includes a granary dated 1863, with a simple triangular gable, and a segmental-arched gate. The date refers to the granary; the residential building, granary and gate each contribute their own forms to the description. Unlike No. 1, which is outlined through its date and location, No. 5 can be viewed primarily through these architectural details.

House and inn No. 35, “Na Dolánku,” served as a post office and a relay station for stagecoaches until 1863. Its former function adds another perspective to the farmsteads: here the focus is not on individual gables or a position on the village square, but on the historic use of a house within the postal service.

Church and Historic Details

The tower of the Church of St. Lawrence (sv. Vavřince) is 36 metres high and has had a clock since 1846, which is wound by hand every day. Its height, the year the clock was installed and its daily winding provide different specific details about the church. It is surrounded by an enclosed cemetery; the church complex also includes a statue of St. John of Nepomuk.

The listed, neo-Gothic brick wayside shrine “Boží muka” is dated 1866. Comparing the dates, 1846 refers to the installation of a clock on the church tower, while 1866 refers to the wayside shrine. This keeps the dates of the respective construction and furnishing details clearly distinct.
