A visit to the castle can be combined with trails in Spalene Porici that offer quite different focuses: the “Za mlynáři od Bradavy” educational trail centers on mills and traditional crafts; the “Perličky víly Terezky” walking trail is especially suitable for families with children, seniors, schoolchildren and parents with strollers. There are also parks in front of and behind the castle, as well as the historic “Cesta otevřená” between Spalene Porici and Blovice. This means you can plan your stay around culture, a walk or a longer cycling route.

Castle and Regional Culture

Adam Vratislav z Mitrovic had Spalene Porici Castle built in 1617 on the site of an earlier Gothic fortress. The year refers to the construction of the castle; the fortress is the older landmark. During a visit, you can see the concert hall with its original Renaissance ceiling vault, which has been preserved, and the ethnographic museum of the Spálenopoříčsko region. The two attractions have different focuses: the vault reveals a detail of the castle’s architecture, while the museum is devoted to the region’s ethnography.

The parks in front of and behind the castle are freely accessible. Along with the castle and museum, they offer another way to spend time outdoors. Check access conditions on site before planning your visit.

Educational Trails and Walking Routes

The “Za mlynáři od Bradavy” educational trail starts at a mill very close to the castle. It runs through the Bradava valley, past the Hvížďalka pond and on to Hořehled. Its six stops explore the history of mills, hammers and traditional crafts; the route is 4.5 km long. Those interested in the area’s cultural history will find a clearly defined theme along this route.

The “Perličky víly Terezky” walking trail takes a different approach: its proximity to the town, flat terrain, paved paths and relatively short distance make it particularly suitable for families with children, seniors, schoolchildren and parents with strollers. Its focus therefore differs from that of the mill trail: here, the emphasis is on these route characteristics and suitability for these groups, while the other trail focuses on the history of mills and crafts.

The “Cesta otevřená” is a restored historic route between Spalene Porici and Blovice. It passes through a rural landscape of meadows, pastures and forests; route conditions depend on the weather. Continuing through the forest can extend the route into a cycling route of about 20 km. Check the weather and route conditions before setting out.

In terms of length, there are two different options: the educational trail is 4.5 km long and has six stops; the roughly 20 km refers to the cycling route that the “Cesta otevřená” can be extended into. This comparison helps you choose based not only on the theme, but also on the type of trip you have in mind.
