Sedliště Nad Úslavou combines village history with an agricultural landscape and a high proportion of woodland. A memorial cross and a granary stand in the village square; field and forest paths crisscross the municipality. If you are looking for an apartment, you can choose your destination based on two interests: historic buildings in the village or exploring on foot and by bike.
Village History and Historic Buildings
The earliest written records of Sedliště documented in official sources date back to 1552. The village’s history is also closely connected with the fortunes of the monastery below Zelená Hora. The year marks the earliest written record; the monastery connection offers a broader historical context.
A memorial cross with a cylindrical shaft stands in front of the chapel in the village square. At farmstead No. 30 on the same square is a timber-framed granary with distinctive exterior cladding. The cylindrical shaft is the cross’s defining feature, while the granary is distinguished by its construction and cladding. The village square thus brings together a memorial and an example of rural architecture.
The former school building, dating from the 1920s to 1930s, now houses the Sedliště municipal office. Its impressively designed façade has been newly renovated. Outside Sedliště, a former manor farm stands on a slope above the road, with a small pond beside it. Unlike the historic buildings in the village square, this farm lies outside the village.
Landscape and Water
The built-up area of Sedliště lies in an agricultural landscape with a high proportion of woodland. The Čížkovský potok flows along the southern edge of the municipality and joins the Úslava at Srby.
Walking Trails and Cycling
Field and forest paths crisscross the entire municipality and make suitable tourist routes; individual paths may change. A marked hiking trail runs along the northwestern edge of the cadastral area through the Doubrava forest complex (Bábin vrch). This gives you a choice between paths across the municipality and one specifically named marked trail. Check the signs before setting out.
For a cycling trip, the older published route “Za výhledy přes hory a doly” runs through Sedliště and then via Srby, continuing along CT 31. It therefore differs from the marked hiking trail that runs through the Doubrava forest complex (Bábin vrch), at the northwestern edge of the cadastral area. Before cycling, check the current signs and surface conditions.
Plan Your Journey
Road III/17717 runs north and connects Sedliště by road with other nearby municipalities. Sedliště is served by buses; check current connections and timetables before travelling. This lets you consider road access and bus travel as different options when planning, without assuming a specific journey time or connection.
