On the eastern edge of Částkov, the fortress stood above a shallow, marshy valley; artificial ponds and ditches formed its outer defenses. Alongside this fortress history, churches and a protected rural farmstead shape the municipality’s cultural character. Waterways, smaller bodies of water, woodland, and a cycle route offer further possible focuses for a visit.

Fortress History and Churches

The fortress in Částkov was built and inhabited from around the 14th century. A Renaissance extension adding three rooms and later Baroque alterations shaped today’s Částkov Château; its interiors have groin vaults. Several building phases can therefore be seen side by side: the fortress’s beginnings, its Renaissance extension, and the later Baroque changes.

The churches also provide distinct historical points of interest. The Church of St. Anne in Částkov is protected as an immovable cultural monument under registration number ÚSKP ČR 44334/4-4736. In Pernolec, a settlement belonging to the municipality of Částkov, the Church of St. Anne Samotřetí and its Stations of the Cross were built in 1902. The church’s protected status in Částkov and the year the ensemble in Pernolec was built are two distinct reference points in the area’s cultural history.

A time-limited access notice applies to the Church of St. Anne Samotřetí: a visitor report dated July 13, 2021, noted that it was not usually open to the public and could be entered only during certain events. Before visiting, check locally whether this access situation still applies.

Another protected property is located in Maršovy Chody: rural farmstead e. č. 1 includes a statue of St. John of Nepomuk. It broadens the view beyond the fortress, château, and churches to include a protected rural estate.

Pernolec also has a fortress whose grounds include a water-filled moat and a stone bridge. Treat it as private cultural heritage to be viewed from the outside; confirm separately before attempting to enter.

Water, Woodland, and Cycle Route

The landscape of the municipality of Částkov is crisscrossed by waterways and smaller bodies of water. Continuous woodland lies in the western part of the cadastral area of Maršovy Chody, within the Český les Nature Park. In addition to individual buildings, features of the landscape can also be among the things that interest you on a trip. You can focus on local history or include water and woodland in your plans.

For cyclists, cycle route No. 36 is another useful point of reference for planning. It passes through Částkov along the route Všeruby u Domažlic – Hošťka – Částkov – Tachov – Cheb – Skalná – Měděnec. Unlike individual cultural monuments, the route can be considered in the context of its full course when deciding whether to include Částkov in a cycling stage.

Planning Bus Travel and Accommodation

Částkov has a public bus stop. If you plan to travel by bus, check the timetable for your specific date. When looking for a holiday apartment in Částkov, your planned focus for the trip can be a useful starting point: the cultural sites, cycle route, and landscape each offer a different emphasis.
