Křelovice combines gently rolling surroundings with a specific cycling route and local history that can be explored across several districts. The 48-kilometre Šipín cycling loop runs from Rozněvice via Křelovice to Skupeč. At the same time, written records of the history of individual districts date back to the Middle Ages. This brings together two distinct travel interests: a continuous cycling tour and historical connections rooted in several places.

Hillside setting and landscape

Křelovice lies on a gentle western slope, surrounded by meadows and farmland. It sits at an elevation of 500 to 530 metres. The reference to the slope describes the shape of the terrain, while the elevation indicates its position within a specific range. Together, they give the village a rural setting and complement its historical themes with a landscape perspective.

The Šipín cycling loop

The Šipín cycling loop is 48 kilometres long. It runs from Rozněvice via Křelovice to Skupeč, with the three places forming a clear sequence along the route. This is a distinct focus for planning your trip, alongside the history of the districts: the loop can be viewed as one continuous route, while the historical connections span different places and centuries. You can decide whether cycling will be the main focus of your time here or whether you would like to give greater weight to local history.

History in Křelovice and its districts

Křelovice was first mentioned in writing in 1483 and at that time belonged to the town of Manětín as an appurtenance. The histories of its districts add their own mentions and lordship connections to this point of reference.

Pakoslav, a district of Křelovice, was first mentioned in 1379 as the seat of the Vladik Jindřich. Frycek z Prostiboře is named as the owner of the fortress in Pakoslav in 1397. After Jan Hvozdíř's death around 1457, the fortress is no longer mentioned. The district's history thus brings together its early mention, a documented fortress owner and the later record of the fortress.

Mydlovary, also a district of Křelovice, is mentioned in 1115 in the foundation charter of the Benedictine monastery in Kladruby. From 1379, the place was associated with the Markwart family of Hrádek. The monastery charter and the later family connection are two distinct historical points of reference for Mydlovary.

Rozněvice, another district of Křelovice, is first mentioned in 1273 in a document issued by Pope Gregory X. The Premonstratensian monastery of Teplá owned Rozněvice until 1576; from 1642, it again belonged to the Teplá monastic estate. Photographs from 2008 and 2009 also show a chapel in Rozněvice. The Rozněvice pond was reconstructed.

More points of interest locally

An information board stands beside the reconstructed monument to the victims of the First World War. Together with the local historical connections, it offers another point of reference for exploring Křelovice.

The themes are easy to distinguish when planning your trip: the Šipín loop is a continuous cycling route, while the history unfolds across Křelovice and its districts. The landscape and elevation provide the geographical setting for both.
